Langos with toppings are for tourist only. We - Hungarians eating langos with garlic and salt or sour cream and cheese. Chimny cake is with sugar or cinemon. Ice cream stuffed in chimny cake is also for tourists only.

There were years in Hungary, when they sold more of those paprika - cream tubes than toothpaste. This is the 'Piros Arany' - means red gold paprika cream.

Mizo is not the worst choice for turo rudi but the pottyos would have been better. The dark chocolaty one. That one is the original one. 😉

I can't help, but remark that you are absolutely not supposed to down pálinka and that literally every "pálinka" available commercially is actually junk. Proper pálinka should smell and taste like fruit, without any interfering taste or smell. The fruit taste should be fairly intensive, kinda like jam, but it's obviously not sweet and has a "warming" effect as you swallow it. Any bitterness or sting is unacceptable. Unfortunately, this tradition of ours is very much dying and it takes on average 10-15 years for me to bump into the real thing. Most people, including Hungarians, who haven't yet had the real deal simply cannot fathom this and accept the garbage they're given as pálinka. Very sad.

Lol this explains a lot. I am not a drinker so I wouldn’t be able to discern such subtleties anyway, but thanks for clarifying. I guess with most liquor it starts as a tradition and it gets too commercial after a certain point. Will definitely be back to try the real thing 🙌🏻

@@everycountrybaby To be honest, it's extremely hard to come across, almost completely impossible these days. I haven't bumped into a good one in years and that one literally took around 10-15 years to stumble upon after I first had my revelation one. Those were a completely different ball game, which I thoroughly miss. Also never ever had a store-bought one that was good enough, all but one had some unpleasant taste. A now out-of-production brand was more or less close on taste, but it was noticeably a commercial piece, possibly diluted, and I suspect it also had some fake aroma added. I have yet to find one that's good. It definitely shouldn't smell or taste like soap or glue or whatever, a criteria that even the most prominent brands consistently fail to meet. Fun fact: The glass is shaped as such so that it concentrates the scent for smelling.
