Very Nice and Informative Video. I learned something new today . I have a questionfor you 1. How to meditate with a particular symbol. Suggestion for a video :- Can you make a video on Buddha different hand postures. What do they mean and why they are used by Buddha.

Thank you and thank you for the suggestion of mudras (hand gestures). That's a good topic for a video! Regarding your questions, for meditating, usually you place the symbols somewhere very visible so that as you walk by you are "reminded" of the teachings. In temples you'll see them at entrances (often on both sides of the door) or on the altar in front of the Buddhas and Sutras (in this case, as both Dharma object and also offering.) For meditating, you could sit quietly in front of the symbol, perhaps light a stick of incense, and do a form of analytical meditation (similar to Vipassana, but focused for now on the symbol) and explore what it means. For the Dharma Wheel, you might contemplate the Eightfold Path and Four Noble Truths. For the treasure vase, you might meditate on Metta and Compassion for all beings (the purpose of wealth in Buddhism is compassion to help all sentient beings). Every time you sit, even for a moment, contemplate what the symbol truly represents. As you do this, you'll find that whenever you walk past the symbol, you are reminded of Dharma. Other forms of practice include placing them in your home as a constant reminder of what they symbolize. Respect them as Dharma objects, (place high and respectfully, be mindful of their signicance, place on your shrine or altar respectfully (if you have one) and so on) which produces merit. For where to buy them, the low cost way is to print them and place in tiny frames. (There are many pictures that have all 8 together in one picture, so you only need one frame). If you'd like the object to be more precious, the symbols are widely available, but sets can be expensive, and shop around, of course. I found the same set of 8 for $100 in one online store and $1000 in another (identical set). Search online for "8 Auspicious Symbols" "8 Auspicious Signs". Most Dharma shops have them, but do the wide search to find a set you like the look of, that you can afford. They are available in Feng Shui shops, too, but they tend to be much more expensive for some reason. Otherwise, just print them out in color at a local copy shop and use simple frames. Hope that helps. In kindness, Lee
