What are the five Wisdom Dakinis? Why are they central to Tibetan Buddhist practice? Why are they associated with activity practices- peaceful, increasing, magnetizing, subjugating and supreme activities - such as Chod? In this presentation, we try to answer these questions. We present the mantras of the Five Wisdom Dakinis, sung by the amazing Yoko Dharma at the end of this introduction.
Teachers advise that you can chant these mantras without empowerment if you have faith and devotion - although you only visualize the deities in front of you; i.e. no self-generation.
The great Padmasambhava, quoted from the book Dakini Activity, defines the vital role of the wisdom Dakini best (from Dakini Activity (book) by Padmasambhava. Available on Amazon: amzn.to/34qe29t (Affiliate link).

"The source of activity is the dakini and there are five kinds of activities, peaceful, increasing, magnetizing, subjugating, and the supreme activity. The primary way to perfect these is through dakini practices, and among dakinis, there are the wisdom dakinis, in space and worldly. These vast collections of practices can be condensed into those of the three roots, lama, yidam, and dakini.
"The source of blessings is the lama, the source of accomplishment is the yidam, and the source of activities is the dakinis. The one who carries out the activities for the lama and the yidam is the dakini, in other words, the virtue of blessings and accomplishment is the activity, which is the dakini."
To help clarify how the great Padmasambhava's words reflect the five Wisdom Dakinis, it can be helpful to clarify both the meaning of Dakini and the symbolism of color and image in Tibetan Buddhism.
Summarizing the Five Great Wisdom Dakinis
The five wisdom Dakinis are the "wisdom" counterparts of the Five Dhyani Buddhas. Dakinis symbolize wisdom activities and Dhyani Buddhas symbolize compassion and method. As the Enlightened Path includes both wisdom and compassion, these are inseparable - which is why the metaphor used is "consort." Whether wisdom is the consort of compassion or the reverse, is not important. They are co-equal partners.
Generally, Wisdom activities are carried out by the Wisdom Dakinis. And, this is where the five activities represented by five dakinis become important. Each of these is represented by a color.
Four Activities and the Supreme
In general, there are four activities - plus, the supreme activity. The four activities are peaceful, increasing, magnetizing, and subjugating, and the fifth is the supreme - which is the ultimate combination of all of these.
These are represented by the five colors: white for peaceful activities, yellow for increasing activities, red for magnetizing activities, blue for subjugating. The fifth is green, which is considered to be the combination of all the other four - the supreme. This is why Green Tara and Vajra Dakini are considered to be the "ultimate action heroes" - since they combine all the types of activities in one magnificent Dakini aspect.

🙏 thank you for the clarity in this video 💎...4 or 5 months ago I woke up one morning with the thought 💭 dakini consort, it was like a sticky note on my forehead and I was like, "what's that!?!"🤔🙂 Did a little digging and first came across a 'dakini code' video which was enlightening, it was like an intro!..then the search fizzled out. Love the chant, the drum & visuals and Yoko's voice is amazing 🎶

why there is ".[hʌm pei svhaa] but not [hum phat svahha] pronunciation in mantras?
@BuddhaWeekly
@BuddhaWeekly 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for your questions. This particular video features Yoko Dharma, who sings the mantra in Tibetan style. Hung pey soha is Tibetan while Hum Phat Svaha is Sanksrit. Tibetan teachers and chanters normally do this as they are transmitted by the teachers. We do have a Buddha Weekly chanted version of this coming in our next album, but that might be a few weeks away. In kindness, BW 🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏

Am not Buddhist but still I wanna practice. Can I do it without initiation?
@drryan-xl5ff

It is better to get empowerment first before get yourself into real practice. Without empowerment you may face many unworldly difficulties and challenges. Better understand the basics and have empowerment from any lama. Now a days lamas are giving empowerment through online and you may find them on KZbin. Also you must have Bodhi chitta before practicing their mantra. Tantra is very powerful and fastest way to get enlightenment even in one life time.
@5dakinis

You can😂 Just see her before you. After an initiation you can be her. Just get started now Enjoy. You don't have to be any religion. Buddhism is not a religion, only a method. So don't need to change religion Daly Loma said so. Dokinis are no religion,they are free. One all that,I.ution,go for it

@@drryan-xl5ff Do you think the demons that Kṣitigarbha rescues from hell have Bodhichitta? Buddhism is for everyone. Not just the niche 0.00001% of the human population trying to become fully enlightened to rescue all sentient beings from the cycle of birth and death.

Thank you for watching. Not specifically in the sense that Chod is a practice, and yes there is a Chod practice associated with the 5 Wisdom Dakinis, but Chod practice, Chod Singay Tsewa and Chod Tsok are advanced practices, whereas this video is focused specifically on the Five Wisdom Dakinis as objects of meditation.

Venerable Zasep Rinpoche advises that you can chant these mantras without empowerment if you have faith and devotion - although you only visualize the deities in front of you; i.e. no self-generation. This makes it a devotional practice.

How do I work with these Dakinis?
@BuddhaWeekly
@BuddhaWeekly Ай бұрын
🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏The Five Wisdom Dakinis (Enlightened Dakinis) are the activity aspects of the Five Buddha Families. We do have a video coming with a short daily practice for those honoring Daknis, especially, for example, on the 25th of each month, which is Dakini Days. Along with that practice, we have the five wisdom Dakni mantras coming in our mantra series for the Dakinis, but they're still some weeks off in our pipeline. We're working as fast as possible. In the meanwhile, learning as much as possible, of course is helpful. We have an overall feature on BuddhaWeekly.com (our website has more in-depth features than we can cover in videos) here: buddhaweekly.com/?p=16032 For a practice, until you have an empowerment from a teacher, you can do merit-accumulation, which are practices such as Taking Refuge, 7 Limbs (including offerings and prostrations), and mantras with frontal generation (visualizing the merit field of Dakinis in front of you.) The great Padmasambhava Guru Rinpoche summarizes Dakinis best: "The source of activity is the dakini and there are five kinds of activities, peaceful, increasing, magnetizing, subjugating, and the supreme activity....." For Buddhist practice, we usually only work with Wisdom or Enlightened Dakinis. Teacher guidance is very helpful, and certainly mandatory if you're working with them as a Yidam practice. From the feature I linked above: Energies of the Five Dakinis: Energies connote (identical to the associations for the five Buddhas of similar colors) (here the order is Body, Speech, Mind, Senses, Activity, which continues for remaining lists of attributes): Body - White Vajra Dakini Speech - Red Padma Dakini Mind -Blue Buddha Dakini Senses - Yellow Ratna Dakini Activity (or Karma) Skandhas of the Five Wisdom Dakinis Form - White Vajra Dakini Perception - Red Padma Dakini Consciousness - Blue Vajra Dakini Feelings - Yellow Ratna Dakini Formations - Green Karma Dakini Wisdom of the Five Dakinis Each Dakini, as the Wisdom counterparts of the Dhyani Buddhas, also specializes in a different "wisdom" Dharmadatu - White Vajra Dakini Mirror-Like Wisdom - Red Padma Dakini Mirror-Like Wisdom - Blue Vajra Dakini Equality (Equanimity) Wisdom - Yellow Ratna Dakini All-Accomplishing - Green Karma Dakini Hope this helps, In kindness, BW 🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
