Nothing wrong with what one chooses to practice, but I feel it's some sort of treachery at play here. Just like Christianity in Africa... This is a new thing! Most Americans still take it literally, throwing themselves into submission and confusion, giving their power away... If it's an old African tradition, it's bcs it was stolen from them like most inventions and cultures were stolen from indigenous people's of the world.

I just listened to Ugandan Bhantey ji, how he started the practice of begging alms, how people don’t understand the Buddhist teachings and tradition at the beginning, however his relentless faith, hard work and determination on Buddha’s teaching realized and now there is Buddhist center there in Uganda, how wonderful and fortunate it is to spread Buddha’s teaching in Uganda. My heartfelt prayers for all the success, May the Buddha’s teaching shine, prevail, and prosper in Uganda, May Uganda remain in peace & prosperity, so does whole world remain in peace & harmony.
