In session 1 of a Mahamudra retreat - a full weekend of teachings - Venerable Zasep Rinpoche introduces Mahamudra and guides a wonderful session that includes a guided session on Samatha Mindfulness - Calm Abiding Meditation. In session 2, Ven. Zasep Rinpoche teaches us how to rest our minds in the natural state - the state of luminescent clarity, or clear light.
In session one, Rinpoche introduces Mahamudra, then speaks about the nature of mind and its obstructions. He then gives detailed, and often humorous instructions on "resting the mind in the natural state." After detailed instructions, he invites us to meditate. The teachings are continued in Session 2, here on KZbin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYrTY4KOhbCEptU
Teachings were at the end of 2018 at Gaden Choling in Toronto. Venerable Zasep Rinpoche is the spiritual director of several meditations centers in Canada, Australia, and the USA, and teaches around the world.

He finally got to the actual meditation -- and then you cut it off and replaced it with romantic mystical music instead! But that was the point of the entire teaching, to get to the practice! This is essential for our progress and meditations with the guidance of a master are precious. I don't understand the decision to delete that most essential part of the session.

We made that editorial decision, sorry. This is "instruction" video to help prepare you, but once the meditation begins, it would be empty video, or video of Rinpoche sitting in meditative equipoise. (Samatha is not generally a "guided meditation." Once you have the instruction, it's best to be undistracted.) You normally would pause the video after the instruction and meditate in solitary equipoise and silence. The music at the ending is simply a windup. Sorry for any confusion.

Sorry, this is a year later, but as we've just organized volunteer editors to continue this series of teachings, I should have added it is also the first (delayed, but now in editing) of several instructional videos. Session 2 is in editing now. I can't promise we'll leave in the meditations on breath and so on, since that will be long videos of no activity, but we plan to include the teachings and instructions. But, certainly in meditations where RInpoche is guiding, we will absolutely leave these in.
