Budding locs seem to come in all different shapes, sizes, and forms. I share up close photos and video of my budding braidlocs and interlocks in this video. Are your locs bunching or bulging? Do you have little compact balls of hair at the end of your locs? In this video, I share my experience with budding.

I love your locs. I started my locs like yours in small braids by myself, it took over a month to complete. They are so small I can not take them out or will not try again because I did take one braid out and pulled half of my hair out! Ouch...lol. It's been almost a year for me with my hair in braidlocs and at first I cut the buds now I am leaving them alone. My baidlcs look like sister locs and people say it all the time which I quickly say they are my locs. I use a 4 point rotation and I do my own hair. My braids are super small and are bra strap length . I love them and so do my family!!!

Three months in. My whole head is frizzy. Can't wait for the part where it locs up and starts looking like yours. I have short hair.

Hi! I would be three weeks in tomorrow! I started them with braids. I'm kinda scared of the budding to be honest but, I'm just gonna trust the whole process

Thanks for sharing your journey. Can't tell that the frizz is there; you look great as always☺. I started with coils, braids, and twist (yes, at the same time). Lasted a good 9months. I ended up interlocking to tighten (i did not pull too tight as im tender headed.) Lasted 9 months. My hair thinned and broke in the middle. Had a huge set back! I ended up doing a second big chop! The middle did not grow with the rest of my hair. I had to cut the rest of my hair to match the short hair in the middle. It grew back once i started to consume more vitamin c and use rose water. I have about an inch in the middle now, while the rest of my hair is to my neck. I hope to restart with interlocking and fan parting.☺

I started my locs with two strand twist and then I interlock. I didn’t interlock the length of my locs. It it is something I’m considering.

Thank you so much for this video and information!! I'm newer to my journey and saw my first bud yesterday but it popped off and I was horrified. Hope I'm not hindering my growth if they come off, it was an accident. I've been genuinely wondering what is going on with my hair close up, what makes these buds appear, and a few other questions ESPECIALLY about why my locs are so dang frizzy now! You answered a good deal of my questions that I honestly looked all over Google and didnt really find much. I know this vid was about 2 years ago but I so appreciate you for this video 💜. I think I'm about 2-3 months in and I've just been wondering about so much during my loc journey.

Is this still with 190 something locs? It looks like more is that because it’s longer?

I love your locks. I’ve tried to start braidlock my own hair and failed. Did you use a specific grid to achieve your look?
@NaturallyMotivatedLady

Thanks. I didn't use a specific grid. I just took my time and did the best I could with making them neat.

Why did you interlock the length with a 4 point rotation instead of a 2 point?
@fim4160
@fim4160 6 жыл бұрын
No it's a two point rotation instead of a 4 point rotation that she does
@rainthomps694

She does a two-point but she did a four-point on the length of her locks and I'm wondering why she chose the four point on the length over the two-point
@NaturallyMotivatedLady
@NaturallyMotivatedLady 6 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. I now use the 2 point rotation to maintain my new growth, but I did use the 4 point when interlocking the ends when I took out the braids. I think the main reason was that I started interlocking 2 years ago with the 4 point rotation when I first started my locs (before switching to the 2 pt rotation). I thought maybe it would make it a more seamless transition where the interlocked bottom meets the 4 point interlocked root from when I first started interlocking. I hope that makes sense. 😊 But it did give me the results I was looking for.

@@NaturallyMotivatedLady Hello I am curious. Would you say you noticed a difference in texture between the 4 point and 2 point in texture?

Also, would you recommend slowly hanging over to interlocks, or the 7 day stretch you took? I have braidlocs that are super thin, and I'm thinking about switching them over to interlocks.

It's really up to you. I just wanted to get it all done so I wouldn't have to deal with different lengths of hair (since the interlocks seemed to shrink more than braidlocs). However, I have a friend who very gradually changed hers a few braidlocs at a time, and she still kept her hair looking good during the process.
