Buddipole Vertical Mod with 80m Low Band coil - HF Antenna

My loaded 80m antenna is a hustler. My vertical shaft below the coil to the spring is 1.8m long then the coil screwed on the top "stinger" part is 110 cm long. I think before you had the coil too close to ground in other videos i saw. Glad you made some sense out of it good you are playing antennas in the field, a valuable part of our craft.

Thanks, is only related to the buddipole BP, As the way, the manufacturer recommends? that didn't work, but I did get it to work in my own configuration, I have also had great success with my other setups, making my own 80m coils attaching them to a 40m vertical. I like to test and experiment with my antennas cheers 73's

I have the buddipole and many parts but from 40 and up. I've even done yagis with it for 10m and QRP. I dont think It'd do good enough for 80m but you got it working right there. I'd suggest raising the same 4 radials you got there at least 3m above ground. It will improve your system. you already have them 0.25 in length so just raise them. another trick is try to top load that vertical. thanks for sharing it!

The choke Balun doesn’t work as good as the trsb triple switch balance in my experience. So leaving it out of your configuration may have helped.

Yes in order to get 80m as recommended by Buddipole you need to use a 2:1 balun, I did prove this in another video using a 3rd party 2:1 and the buddipole low band coil, but I am testing and finding much cheaper ways to achieve this then spending a couple of hundred dollars AU to buy the triple switch balun
