Probably my favorite drum solo by him. So different. This isn't the entire video.

This isn’t t a first for Buddy. He played matched grip all the way back to Hawaiian War Chant. He knew how to play matched just fine, he was just more comfortable playing trad.

Your all a bit wrong .He did a solo in 1949 ,where He did a Tom Solo playin matched. Its not New for alot of these guys. Except now. That solo could shake Bonhams butt.It was on the tube.

Boy, that sure looks like a 24 in. bass. I know he had a 26 in. on his RK kit. Am I wrong?

He used to have a 22 inch bass drum during his days with Harry James, but when he formed his big band, he changed it to a 24 inch. Buddy rarely used a 26 inch bass drum, but his drums sizes were the same. He always used a 9x13 RT, 2 16x16 Floor Tom's, 14x24 inch bass drum and a 5x14 or 5.5x14 inch snare drum.

Hello Brian. The bass drum in this video is a 26". That's the Slingerland Radio King set that he played throughout the last three years of his life. A 28" had been prepared for Buddy prior to his death. The 28" was never delivered.
