"effortlessly brilliant" is a great way to describe Buddy. I loved your reaction! It will remind most of us of the first time we heard and saw Buddy play. Most of us simply started gasping, laughing, and screaming, in total hysteria and disbelief. I sure miss him.

I got to see him perform several times including at the Chicago Jazz Fest in 1985. Each time I saw him play it was like magic. He was the absolute best.

BUDDY RICH had a left hand quicker than both hands of most drummers

hi! i made it to a premiere! I know you love drums. Have you done "The Drum Battle - Buddy Rich & Gene Krupa" - recorded in 1952. Two legends. I think there is also video.

Amazingly, this isn't even Buddy at his best in my opinion.. I've watched so many videos over the last 10 years. And, it's good you watched the entire Suite. Most people just react to the drum solo. But his playing along with the band is masterful..

Imagine Buddy Rich filling in for Jon Bonham on Zeppelin tours. Bonham was special, totally unique, but I reckon if anyone could match the quality of Bonhams style, it would be Buddy Rich. The bass drum dynamics control reminds me of Bonham.
