That is so amazing James. WOW. What an amazing production you guys put together. I can only imagine what an amazing, once in a lifetime experience that must have been for you. The only way to get that much drumming talent in a single production would be to get Gadd, Weckl, and Vinnie on the same stage again. I bought this on VHS back in the early 90s and literally wore out the tape. I'd rewind and rewind and rewind trying to figure out what all three of my drum idols were playing during this amazing performance. I think it's safe to say this tape influenced generation of aspiring drummers, which must be really gratifying. Thanks for sharing!

I love this era of Dave Weckl! The mullet, the recording customs, the far back on the stick traditional grip (which he made work somehow - all sorts of speed and power), the Zildjians, and the fierceness in his playing at this age. Dave is STILL absolutely amazing, and I love this playing to this day, but this phase of Dave's career was really special.
@petelane86624 жыл бұрын
I still have my 9000RC from the same era.... Cherry red the same as Dave’s and the same drum sizes..... and i still have this on VHS... I watched this again and and again and again..... still up there with my favorite drummers..... loved this era ..... Dave was awesome, Steve i love when you can hear him on certain records..... especially Steeley Dan.... Michael McDonald , but that’s just one of my favorites.... then...... there is Vinney.... fark....

All the drummers who participated are all great with their own style. For a true big band drummer, Rich had all the bases covered - excellent time, a showman, and one- of -a-kind chops. He will always be in my mind the world's greatest.

Yamaha drums were great then in their great now an they were on full display that night and pearl. Of course Louie had the Ludwig kit....colaiuta, Dave weckl, Steve gadd, all used yamaha that night. Dennis Chambers played Pearl( incredible sound, my favorite kits), Louie Belleson played Ludwig and Greg Bissonete played that beautiful signature Pearl kit which glowed in the dark( the hardware anyway). From his days w/ the David Lee roth band. From which his career took off .
@thomaspetteruti617 Жыл бұрын
Louie Bellson played a Remo kit. He started his career on Gretsch and subsequently used Rogers, Slingerland, Pearl, and then Finally Remo if memory serves. : )
