💥💥💥Just thought of another perk: You can take gear in/out without removing the canisters. And since they are anchored it's super easy to do so! Plus it’s very ♻️ ♻️ ♻️!

I always love seeing a reliable budget hack. Getting another use out of a “single use” container is considered a win! Rad on

Love the budget fork containers! Practical, multipurpose. We attached cupholder/feedsacks to our bikes last year, really useful. Please continue with the “budget gear” videos, thanks!

Ingenuity at work here: really robust ("🔔") , impervious to water, contents limited only by size and one's imagination. Reuse is cool! ♻️🤘🏻

Speaking of cracking.The sun can eat plastic alive with UV rays. Some plastics get really brittle and and crack easy. Be sure to keep an eye out for discoloration or a significant change in the feel on them.

Awesome idea to give commonly discarded new life! I would have never thought about doing this. If you are worried about them getting cracked or broken, you could always carry some flat wrapped duct tape for repairs.
@radbikeadventure
@radbikeadventure 2 жыл бұрын
Yes totally true about the duct tape and you could even wrap a it around the container a few passes and it’s be more protection and easy access to the tape!

If you like cordage, Nets and More in Louisiana has some unusually good stuff. If you google "Nets and More twine twine size" and click on the result that says "twine twine size" it will take you to the right page. Braided is really nice to have. It doesn't unravel. If you scroll down on that page you can get an idea of the sizes. Most people recommend size 36 for general, all purpose bikepacking and camping. Some people prefer larger. Some prefer smaller. I have and like all three. The size 9 is kinda nice because you get so many feet per quarter pound,, and it is very very compact. It is still surprisingly strong. I have the tarred version, which has its advantages. The tarring helps in several ways, including making knots hold much better. Their stuff is much nicer and stronger than most of what's out there. They also have high quality rope.

This is a great hack! I live in a city where everything attached to my bike will be stolen, minus something like a water bottle. I may try this out on my commuter bike since who is going to steal a protein powder bottle?

Excellent ideas. I've been using a cheap little military-looking pouch (approx 20cm x 10cm x 10cm) as a bar bag. It was US$8 delivered to my door. The molle straps on the back loop over the handle bar. If you want the bag to sit out a bit to clear the brake cables, just run a couple of velcro straps through the molle loops, then around the bars, and Bob's your uncle. It's not waterproof, but I wrap vulnerable gear in ziplocks anyway. Cheers

Thanks! I use their pea protein every day! Amazon had it for $16.99 for a few days last month and I bought 4 of them! Living in AZ would destroy those plastic jugs in no time though... Stay safe!

Just a tip, don't use bungee cords w/ lg hooks wrapped around fork legs, they can bounce off if in your morning load outs you tend to get sloppy like I did. Use the Vole or similar straps styles that won't lock up the front wheel if they get into the spokes.
@radbikeadventure
@radbikeadventure 2 жыл бұрын
Bungee cords w hooks are definitely a big NO around wheels for me. My go-to budget strap is an old tube tied securely w knots on the ends.

I love the handle bar bags. I have used the Condor brand bags that are probably available at most army/navy surplus stores. They are "insulated" so nice for camera gear, and have an extra front pocket where I usually keep my phone. Not the lightest thing ever, but when you need to kit out 3 bikes who can spend $50+ on one handlebar bag?!
