Ya know I had to come back and say congrats on life man. You've risked it for the biscuit your wife put up with all the crazy rebuilds campers cars boats and bikes. The Maristar was the very beginning of Vdrive comp boats. Parks Bonifay (spelling) was the first pro guy to move away from mid engine like a ProStar 205 and into the V drive. Still great boats.

Im not sure how you guys can say a Vdrive is pretty much an unsurfable boat? Were surfing with the same vintage boat, but direct drive. I cant say I have ever heard anyone say that a Vdrive of any vintage is bad for surfing. Really great job on the rebuild. Im working on a less ambitious surf setup on a Tristar!

With the lead add a boey to it so if wost case you can toss it over bord and come back for it when safe. Not long line just enough you can see it on sonar and snag it with an anchor line.

What wa your ballast . I too have a 97 Maristar. I was going to add FatSac ballast. 1100# rear locker 750# in second locker 400# under seat and 370# in ski locker Total 2620#. Wake shaper swell. Will this work

Very nicely done Sir! I have a 96 mastercraft maristar 225 and it has been great except every once in a while it acts up like make a temp safety switch or something because it will randomly go into like a limp mode and then finally come out of it in about 15 or 20 seconds. Super annoying but hey great job!

Nice. I had a 95 prostar 190 and we surfed with 6-8 people on the transom and a 55 gal drum. So Much fun. Then sold it and bought a 99 response. Good times for $7k and wave to the people with the $100k boats I have no monthly payment in the winter. 😂

I would have ran it without the side glass panels. Tons of boats cut off right after the windsheild and it would have saved a ton if fab time! I cant believe how cheap you built this for! I'm jealous

If there is mildew then a good mildew remover is needed. 409 is great but If its really bad a magic eraser can be used but it will strip the protective coating so be careful and use 303 after to protect it. Wipe the vinyl down regularly with boat bling hot sauce to keep it clean and protected.

Seth Gabbard, fiberglass may seem scary but it’s really not. We have a 40ft Rv and a 20ft fishing boat. We’re new in the toy world so we’ve had a few cracks but nothing that’s un-repairable. Fiberglass also gives and bends. Aluminum dents, and it also oxidizes. I was at the ramp yesterday and I saw a boat come and hit the corner of the dock... hard. But the fiberglass gave and bent. But it did not crack or get mis-shapen. And it’s gelcoat, it doesn’t scratch easily. And it’s solid and thiccc. So it can be buffed out. It may seem scary but with fiberglass you have more boat options. Enjoy boating buddy! Maybe consider fiberglass!

I know the wake shaper was your sponsor but spend 2k and get an infinity wave. All automated so you don’t have to worry about sticking the gates on, water coming over the side, or losing them. You can weight the boat evenly and when you turn to pickup a rider you don’t have to worry about the drag from the gates. They also have a launch function to keep the bow down when starting with a skier or wakeboarder. If you want more adjustability you could add a center trim tab as well.
