Budget Bobber Build #40 | How to Install a Side Mount Number Plate on a Yamaha Virago 250 XV250

In this episode we install an eBay side mount number plate and brake light on Gilby the Yamaha XV250, Virago 250, V-star 250 or Route 66.
I'm not aware of the laws surrounding side mounts in your Country, State or Province, Please do your own research DO NOT ask me! This is a guide on how to install one only!

Instead of bolts, weld it together. I welded it and made it tight or close to the wheel.

I havent had an issue but i live in rural area and take it easy through town and be nice when pulled up as it is modded and so i gotta cop it on the chin if pulled over. So far no issues

Hey man , there is no way that you can keep the old break light With the new one?

Not sure i understand but you would easily be able to splice the new one into the old one wiring to run both. Should be ok as the led has little draw

Go for it in Vic i just got a bobber custom made & was told it is such a grey area of how the law really is it may not be worth the hassle from cops. If you check my channel i went without & still regret it. cheers iRidetas

Could you reverse the mounting plates so the license tag is vertical? Would look much cleaner imo.

Yes you could but imo it looks better horizontal!

Stylistically im not sure saddlebags go with what i was doing but i cant see why you couldnt put them on as the side mount comes off the axle!

Hey, i have Virago 750, i can't figure out how to connect this light. When i turn the key it doesn't light up it only works when i push the brake paddle. What am i doing wrong?
