Where did you get the front and rear neoprene seals for the engine?

TA Performance

Nice! Do you have the build specs?

It's a 1973 455, .030 over so a 462 now. The oversize pistons have more compression than stock so it's around
@probuick33172 жыл бұрын
Shoot, pushed send before I was done. Compression is about 9.3 to 1. It was machined for the pistons. The crank is .010 under on rods and mains. New cam, rod and main bearings. Neoprene front seal, Neoprene rear main seal. Cast rings from Hastings. TA Performance oil pump booster plate and pressure adjuster. Stock intake.

Hi What you recommend carburetor for buick riviera 1973 455 engine
@probuick3317 Жыл бұрын
Hello! Thanks for the question. It really depends on your preference. The stock quadrajet carbs when they're "right" work great. Holley carbs, either the 4160 (single inlet) or the 4150 (dual inlet) work great too but they require an adapter to use on a stock intake. They also typically require a switched 12 volt for the electric choke. You can get them with a manual and divorced choke as well. All that said, I would not go any smaller than a 750CFM of any type on any 455.

@@probuick3317thanks for your reply Do you mean this carburetor HOLLEY 750 CFM CLASSIC HOLLEY CARBURETOR Electric Choke Vacuum Secondaries-4160 Part # 0-80508S
@probuick3317 Жыл бұрын
That'll work! If I recall the 4160 is a single inlet so the hook up to the fuel pump is easier.

You called it a budget build. Wondering what that budget cost was?
@probuick33172 жыл бұрын
Great question! The cost of the bearings, rings, cam, lifters, timing chain and gears, gasket set, oil pump kit, lapping compound and bolt kit, figure 1K plus. I had a water pump, fuel pump and carb sitting around. I had the block magged and cleaned and bored .030 over to match the pistons. That was $750. Figure total was $1800 no more than 2K. I did not include my time cleaning up the heads, rockers, doing the lapping work or engine assembly. For some folks $1800 to 2K isn't a "budget build" but if you add up the additional machine shop costs for rebuilding the heads, line bore, re-sizing the rods, balancing etc. it would be twice+ that amount.
