Budget Debates - MP He Ting Ru & MP Louis Chua on guarding against corruption.

During Budget Cuts debates for Prime Minister Office, Sengkang MP He Ting Ru and Louis Chua urged the Government to put in place more safeguards against Corruption. Miss He highlighted the need for legislation against lobbying while Louis suggested for public declaration of assets of Ministers. Minister Chan Chun Sing provided responses to their suggestions.

I was at many HDB *LOBBY* (but not LobbYING) I asked, Is One Brand of Paint more dominating in SG ? I not saying it Monopolising. What paint is used for HDB flats like repainting after a number of years? Were the walls well cleabed before repainting ? Why i see some areas the paint peel off by big chunks showing poor adhesion?

Truly, LKY is being over-rated. Not to alarm the jealous west, do you think that Singapore a population of 3 million producing LKY is an outlier? Then, brace yourself for what is to come! Except the fact that he's an ethnic Chinese, there's really nothing special about LKY. Now China has 1.4 billion Chinese. It's just unfathomable how many more leaders more capable than LKY that China is potentially able to produce in the next 10 years. The west is in for very formidable competition to come!

For simplicity and a more palatable explanation, Singapore's success is due to one man - LKY blah blah blah... For the unvarnished truth, just look at Taiwan, Japan, Taiwan, China, Korea and HK. The prosperity of a place is tied to the people. Singapore's success is hard to replicate, that is, unless you have another place that is inhabited predominantly by East Asian people. Singapore likes to project a multi-racial front. This is disproportionately seen in the number of high-profile, very vocal and very flashy ethnic Indian ministers or MPs. Because of the geopolitical realities, Singapore likes to have them in order to help hide the fact that Singapore is predominantly a Chinese nation. But, say, you remove all the ethnic Chinese MPs and ministers and leave the national leadership to only the likes of Tharman, Shanmugam, Iswaran, Vivian Balakrishnan, Pritam Singh, Leon Pereira, Janil Puthucheary, Daryl David, Gurmit Singh etc. What happens in consequence? My belief is Singapore will collapse irreversibly in short order!

LKY no doubt was highly intelligent and capable which was no big deal compared to the top 10% of Chinese people. What particularly set him apart was his command of the English language and his understanding of the dominant Anglo Saxon world. He was brought up in this part of the world that was in constant contact with the west. On the other hand, China in the past were just too insular and did not have people like LKY to skillfully navigate the power relations with an arrogant west. But China has been opening up since the 1980s and things continue to evolve... The true capabilities of China will soon come to fruition in full view of the whole world.

If you believe that true capabilities are reflected in clever speeches, then the Indians are number one. However, nothing is further from the truth. Flamboyant speeches are good only to impress the not-so-bright masses in any country. It was never the brilliant talks that propelled Singapore into the First World. Rather, it was all the hard, thankless work behind the scene that determines success or failure. This is where ethnic Chinese people excel in. For this reason, the unsung heroes of Singapore are - to me - people like Goh Chok Tong, Ong Ye Kung, Lawrence Wong, yes even Chan Chun Sing etc. They are people who might even look wooden on stage yet they deliver year after year notwithstanding the unfair criticisms being thrown at them every now and then.

Most hdb flats at segar road have never been painted for few decades and are badly maintained , only those facing the main road are painted so to mislead the public that flats are well takem care of but behind these flats looks terrible haunted , very badly stained , its also terrible inside these lifts and stairs , if not well maintained , conservancy n maintenance should reduce charges by 100% or abolished.

WP questioning and logic are undebunkable. However, there is only one problem (to wp) in a democracy - the Majority or is it Bo Bian'ism? Majority both in Parliament as well as majority of the electorate. Which back bencher questioned the Reserves? I am confident the Majority don't find it a need to have Change in terms of revealing the assets. Which requested for asset to be disclosed even with redacted details like actual address? They are not Complicit because its Democracy in action. The integrity of ballots is unquestionable. I like the rubber chop that marks the ballot.🤭🏆🏆🏆

In the Peoples' mind though legally shielded but may be improper conduct and unethical or unbefitting for their support. I might as well support alternatives as a barter to improve Singapore and benefit all Singaporeans and as minimum, to regain some respect and dignity as a Man for their Family in securing back Good Paying Jobs in our "OWN" land. The CCS and all the Cabinet Ministers should recuse themselves from defending the proposal made by WP Louis Chua for Declaration of Assets of Ministers since they are the "interested parties". Furthermore all these are for a better Singapore for Singaporeans and so as to be seen by Singaporeans to be proper and to avoid any SELF-SERVING BIAS implication. What is the PAP so afraid of?

The Singapore population is low in comparison to other bigger countries. Hence in terms of corruptions there is a much smaller population in Singapore to commit such offences.
