I appreciate you suggesting some less expensive options not everybody can lay down big bucks on a light

It always blows my mind how high quality Convoy's lights are for the money. They also allow you to basically customize your light anyway you want. Tons of different parts available, bezels, reflectors, lenses, illuminated switches, etc. You can also purchase any parts you need for spares. Really designed to last you a long time, and super easy to work on. By far my favorite flashlight brand.

Convoy is a great brand. Lots of options, fantastic quality and very low prices. The guy behind it is also a great enthusiast and very attentive to us costumers.

Solid recommendations... Might want to also address Simon's new website! Still a work in progress, but he's working his way away from being so dependent on AE...

I have a lot of flashlights and my best one is the sofirn SC33 5,200 lumens and it's always on sale on Amazon for just over 30 to 35 dollars. The light is really bright and has never failed me once . Thanks for the review I love a good budget light.

I have the Convoy T2 (slow and fast PWM) and a Lumintop Tool AA 2.0. I love both. They can provide indoor usable light with such batteries, which you can't even expect that still have any usable charge.
@DinnerForkTongue5 ай бұрын
Luckily the T3 is essentially the T2 in a different body, so it's every bit as good.

Got a S6 18350 sft40 in the mail and I can't wait. Simon is even better than Hank imo. His new site is getting better by the day, just recently he made an option to add batteries and change the product color.

There is plus one model, the T5 with single AA size format and 60degree TIR lense. Not bad, but definitelly an indoor light.

Hi! You mentioned that you can choose sst20 instead of nichia 519a for more throw, but it will also have less brightness. I thought that the nichia 519 had higher CRI and better tint in general (no greenish or yellowish like the SST20), but slightly less brightness and efficiency.
@DinnerForkTongue5 ай бұрын
No, it's better than the SST20 in every way. What it loses in brightness and throw to is the SST40 and SFT40.
@Gieszkanne12 күн бұрын
You can also get a Nichia with green tint and Luminus without. The SST20 also is rated with 1000 lumen and has more throw than the 519 so he was partially wrong. If you can not decide the Nichia 219 has more throw than the 519 but still not as much as the SST20.

Are the heads/body interchangeable? Does the T3 body fit on the T4 head? Convoy has an own homepage!

The faff of having to match batteries and needing protection has completely turned me off of multi-cell lights in general. I'm a single-cell fan all the way, so while I love Convoy I'm not interested on the T4. I'd only use it with Eneloops anyway. I have a T3 in 219B 3000K warm white, and while it's no powerhouse, it is lovely to use. Although comparing it with a 519A in 3000K also, the latter owes nothing to the 219B, so for the usual consumer I'd say go with the 519A, it's a wonderful high CRI performer in any color temperature.

Overrated problems. People used to use multiple primaries in flashlights back in the days and had no issues except leaks. I've used Maglites, Varta, Energizer incandescent flashlights with C-D-AA primaries in series - no issues with them for more than 20 years. Now I buy 2xAA LED flashlights just for a small collection and power them with Eneloops, all is just fine. Protected is for Li-Ion batteries and I think it's a good habit to use protected only, all A-brands supply their flashlight with protected cells, for the backup I can buy protected cells from Keeppower, Orbtronic, EVVA and others. Marry\Match batteries? It's better to marry a good woman than marry batteries for flashlights.

@@alext8410 Invalid comparison. The flashlights you used in the previous century were single-mode and far more disposable, and fed on weak batteries with FAR less stored energy. Ever heard of lithium-ion fires? Look them up. For your own safety, stay away from modern multi-cell lights until you change that mindset. Technology has changed, and it's not advised to disrespect what modern technology can do if mishandled.
@alext84103 ай бұрын
@@DinnerForkTongue I've been using modern AA\AAA torches for 10 years already, with NiMH cells. Issues can be with Li-Ion 14500 in series, but they can be of good quality and protected ones. Are you talking about "Li-Ion cellls in series can explode" or "All chemistry cells in series tend to explode"?

i am constantly seeing suggestions on amazon for ones like this, Rechargeable Flashlights 2 Pack, 990,000 Lumens Super Light Flashlight with LCD Digital Display, 5 Adjustable Mode Powerful Tactical Flashlight, Waterproof Flashlights for Camping Hiking what is your opinion on lights like these?

Those are garbage lights with fake performance claims, avoid them.
