I just got an MS18 for $276. Given the price, it is an incredible value. It may not be the best, but its going to be tough to beat at that price. I want an X75 or MS32 but theyre both so much more expensive. Maybe I will pick one or both of them up in the future.

I have the SR-32, and the X-75 with extended battery pack, among many others lol. I consider both of those as my top two lights, and the SR-16 not far behind. I like the SR16 because it has a beautiful colored light, I just wish it had an extended battery pack option. On a side note, I've noticed that a lot of these insanely powerful lights tend to off-gas some chemicals when on turbo mode, and it permanently fogs up the inside of the glass. I wonder if there is a way to fix this... BTW, is Matt your father?

Dont even bother trying to get the ms32 if you are in the UK right now, ive just been tru 2 weeks of hell going thru 3 ebay sellers 2 of them oficial imalent dealers & one third party, ive been messed about each time with them taking the money & then them saying that the light is not actually in stock & thers a month to wait. Then ive had to wait 3 days for the money to come back from ebay each time. Ive given up, i cant find one for sale here, its a dam nightmare, ive wanted one of these for ages but its just to costly for me to import a one-off myself. If any one knows ANYWHERE in the UK i can get one ide be very greatfull.

I'm a service plumber. I bought one of Lumencrafts' 5,000 Lumen Led upgrades almost a decade ago. I keep that 2D in the work van. I have two 6000mah 32650 cells in it. When I go into a thin, dirt crawlspace of a 100-200 year old house that's what I take in with me. Yes, I have a pocket flashlight and a couple work lights, but the 2D is perfect for crawlspaces. There has been at least one occasion where I came face to face with an animal and I was glad I was holding my 2D and not my pocket flashlight. I think it was an Opossum or a Racoon. Either way, it didn't like feeling backed into a corner. Thankfully I could take some good swings at it, causing it to turn tail and find another route, as opposed to coming at me. I could not backup nearly as quickly as it wanted me too.

When you say it only golds turbo for 3 min then drops to 800 rorbthe remainder of the run time... but thats such an unlikely use case scenario. Running it from full tondead in one go? Its going to see 100 rounds of on and off with many of those times being turbo for sometime 30 seconds, 1 min, 2 min.... I dont see how that waybof describing turbo runtimes is in anyway useful??? Please help me understand what im misunderstanding?
@ethan-lumencraft-4 күн бұрын
It just shows you the light's limits. It can't sustain max output for more than 3 min (which is a lot) and it can sustain that 800 lumens for over 6 hours, which is a very long time. How you use that is up to you. If I tested it the way you describe, it would be impossible to translate those numbers to other use cases.

I was on your channel looking for flashlight basic video and can't find one. Can you recommend one? I liked your soldering basics video. I'm retired and have half a dozen soldering irons and tools and crap. I also have maybe 20 old flashlights-some very old. I pulled a bunch of 18650 lithium batteries from old cordless stuff that was still good and want to build a bunch of flashlights is all. I bought led drivers to use 1 and 2 of those batteries and also bought some bulbs. In other words, I need to know how to put it all together. I don't wants modes, just on and off-using the original buttons. What solders to what? Maybe I'll go the popular route some day and get heat sinks and go big but right now I'm looking for basics. I don't own any "pills". I got lots of round stock and a lathe and milling machine. Any help would be appreciated.

Most IKEA LADDAs are rebranded eneloops, there was a brief period where the brown label ones were made in china. A shorthand for finding rebadged eneloops is to look for Made in Japan as Panasonic’s factory is the only NiMH factory in Japan. 1900 and 2000 mAh are eneloop whites of varying generations rebranded and 2200 - 2450 are eneloop pros rebranded (of varying generations). LADDAs are under $2 CAD per cell

Superb review, it’s a pricey light but you get a solid performer. 4000 lumens is plenty. I have a Niwalker MB almost ten years old, high is around 2600 with two XHP70s, I usually only use half that. The GT3 with 4x21700 cells looks like the way to go. 👍

A flashlight Isnt what it seems... CORRECT. You can assemble that to form into something else.. This is the only instrument brand you can use. Maybe there are similar brands. I think this brand is patented.. I got similar instrument but its a USB speakers!! 1 - Remove (1 batteries), (2 bulb), (3 the round transparent cover) of the head and (4 the big spring) inside for the batteries.. 2 - Place the head where you insert batteries! It can actually fits in there! You can put a scotch tape, masking tape, duct tape anything that can hold it into place.. 3 - the pressable spring on the other side where you put the bulb should be covered. Mine I cover it with a plastic bottle cap. Avoid to press or touch the button! Never insert your fingers inside the funnel shaped mirror! Avoid touching those areas I mention. Why? Everything sucked in there will be transfered inside you! It happens real quick, like a syringe gun. If this happens just place the flashlight on your palms. DO NOT USE THE INSTRUMENT ON YOUR BELLY OR ANY PART OF YOUR BODY! (unless you know what you are doing) KEEP IT AWAY FROM YOU! Never place the instrument pointing at you! Different sizes have different uses. 😊 Keep the instrument away from children! 4 - Place it on the floor, windows, tv's, bulbs, doors, speakers, mirrors (large instrument only)... The portable sizes are for sick people. 5 - If this is done properly, congratulations! Your place is now safe for unknown intruders! Free fragments too! 6 - Check the instrument everyday, if it gets bloated! NEVER OPEN IT INSIDE THE HOUSE.. Go outside the road then open the head real quick away from you!

Exactly my point and nothing to do with you but rather the label on the light. Hp or watts are units of power for a motor but on which standard dyno under what calibration under what test conditions… lumens are units. Not the test specification, plan, or procedure.
@flyingyakdeath6 күн бұрын
I can test the same flashlight at 2000 lumens. There's no standard test to determine lumen level. You can test the center 1mm, the outer edge, in the sun, in a dark room, all will give you different measurement results.
@ethan-lumencraft-6 күн бұрын
Lumens (ISO) are a standardized unit of measurement based off of luminous flux integrated in a sphere. ANSI/NEMA FL1 is the international standard for light output and testing. Lumen counts on a box are measured after running the light for 30 seconds. I always report my numbers based on the reading at turn-on, after a fresh charge, which is the highest possible output. The 30-second output can then be extrapolated from the provided runtime data. Integrating spheres are consistent, anybody testing this light with a properly calibrated measurement rig would get the same results (assuming the light itself is consistent of course). My sphere has again been calibrated by a certified laboratory and is operated in a dark room without interference. Becasue it integrates the light, there is no way to get a different result from the sphere through positioning.

4 things I think are worth mentioning : 1. NiMH is only 1.2 V and some devices don't like it. 2. IKEA NiMH are rebranded Eneloops and Eneloops Pro. You may want to test them and compare discharge curves. It's mind blowing (because they are half price 😮). 3. When your device uses multiprocessing cells - as most do - the we worst cell in the series will determine the runtime. 4. In multi cell devices (3 or more in my experience) often one of the AAs gets discharged below safe discharge level and needs to be "revived" which is inconvenient. Maybe there are clever chargers that can figure out this happened and revive the cell automatically. 2 "smart" charged I have don't do it and instead don't even detect a cell was inserted; because its voltage is too low. So I have to use a third, primitive (timer based?) charger to boost the "dead" cell for 5 min before I can put it one of the smart chargers and have it notice a cell was just inserted so time to start charging.

Most people don't (care to) have a shelf full of flashlights. Given the decreasing number of devices that use aa/aaa batteries that most people use frequently, and cheap alkalines last like a year for each, even if you switch to good nimh, you at most save.. a few bucks a year, if that? Shouldn't you worry about bigger stuff like transportation or heating efficiency if you care about the environment?
@ethan-lumencraft-11 күн бұрын
Yeah you should worry about the bigger stuff. It never hurts to save money and get better performance out of devices that use AAs though.
