probably 2 a7iii with tamron 28-75 and 70-180, pretty nice place to start and used could be really cheap since everyone is upgrading to the a7iv

I bought my first camera last year, an R6mk1 and have beat the living hell out of it but the camera still delivers at every wedding. I shoot high end Indian weddings and I will say that it has overheated (actually just once) but it is still consistently a work horse that I use almost everyday along with other canons now. I’ve dropped it a few times, took it to shoot a jet ski commercial in Puerto Rico and crashed my jet ski with it, the view finder is cracked but the thing never fails haha I bought a second one at a camera shop a few weeks ago because it was $900 with a high shutter count but for video that doesn’t really matter so I’d say don’t let the bad reviews deter you, try it for yourself and if it doesn’t work return it!

I used Canon R6 Mark I got my first wedding videography and I didn’t have any issue. Still great option. Superb video and insight on varieties of camera system.

I have FX3, FX30, R6ii and have rented an R8. The FX3 is def the best for video. Then R6ii (which is a much better value). Then FX30, followed by R8. Lumix S5II is last.

R8 is a great budget option, but If you're getting an R8 for wedding film making then a battery grip is a must have. Those tiny M50 batteries will do about 1 hour in 4k 24 which doesn't give me enough wiggle room to relax when using it as a bcam to the r6mk2. Battery grip gives you two hours which is perfect 👍

In the last 3-5 years, it's wild how far the options have come, even from when I started in 2019 (on my Canon 80D). I'd suggest the Sony FX30 if someone wants to be serious, especially because of the third party lens options. I'd suggest the Canon R6 as the second option, with a sigma 24-70 lens, but the 4k 60 overheats and can be annoying.
@WaywardNorth4 ай бұрын
Yeah totally agree here. I think if you do go with the Canon mirrorless route, it shouldn't be your main cam but a B or C option. I think Sony is much more reliable unless you go the Cinema route with Canon but even then there are number of nuisances with these (price point, weight, etc)

Panasonic S5 and S5ii is a fantastic option for wedding film makers. Full Frame, great IBIS, low-light performance and for the price it’s hard to beat. The GH series is great but don’t sleep on the S5 and S5ii.

Dang I didnt even think about the S5ii. There are TOO MANY CAMERAS haha but yes these are great!

I shot my first wedding this weekend. I’m now getting ready to upgrade from the Canon M50. I’m mostly considering the Sony line. The FX3 is probably going to be out of reach for me unless I’m willing to wait close to a year before I upgrade. With all that in mind, what would be your recommendation for someone in my situation? Should I go for the FX30 and run with it until I’m profitable enough to go for the FX3? Or, should I shoot for something like the A7SIII? It’s considerably cheaper used than the FX3. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for putting out encouraging content for others to glean from!

Just did my third wedding on my little Canon SL3 and just got the Sigma 18-35 1.8 hahaha it’s done good so far, but of course I’m coveting that FX30 of yours 😂

I want a camera to shoot documentary in India, something easy to carry. I was considering sony alpha mark 4 but its a little over my budget. What do you recommend. I need good stabilisation, and good lens options. TIA

What is your current Budget? But here are a few I Love. - Sony FX30, amzn.to/3BVkA0o - Panasonic GH7, amzn.to/3BNUyw3 - Canon R8, amzn.to/3DzZxBf Try the used market on Lens Rentals, Adorama, and B&H as well because they often have deals. Id definitely try to find a used model if you can.

@@WaywardNorth My budget is around 1500$. I am now confused between ZVe10m2 or Alpha 7c.
@WaywardNorth28 күн бұрын
@@meghachakraborty4080 Id check the used market, you could probably score something pretty awesome within that range. But if it were me, I'd start with the A7C. I used it a few years back and it was great little camera to start with

Canon R7 with the 17-55 2.8 EF-s. Camera never overheats, has continuous shooting, 4k60 oversampled from 7k. CLog, ibis, dual card recording, weather sealed
@edwink04 ай бұрын
R8 is a no-go. Great camera, we owned two of them, but it overheats outdoors, especially in 4k60p. You’re lucky if you get 10min out of it in the summer.
@benjamin.kelley4 ай бұрын
Same with the ZV-E1 or so I've heard!
@WaywardNorth4 ай бұрын
@@benjamin.kelley Yeah I've heard that for the ZV-E1 and the reason I actually didn't include was because of the Single SD Card. It seems to be built more for content creators. Been wanting to get my hands on one because I do like that its basically a mini A7Siii but isn't best suited for live events.
@WaywardNorth4 ай бұрын
Yeah I figured the R8 was still a liability with overheating which is a bummer. But the price point is really great but the caveats are tough to look past.
@pedromarquez1144 ай бұрын
I doubt you’ve used the canon r6mk2. I’ve used 2 canon r6mk2 for 2 years on weddings for photo and video and a Sony a7IV. I record at 4k60 the majority of the day and the only camera that overheats is the Sony. Obviously every camera has its flaws but I think out of all of the cameras you mentioned the r6mk2 is the best option, not the cheapest but the best overall

How is looking for a good video camera for film. I would say to look for a canon c70 used. For the price of those you suggest… especially now with the new c80. Will be a lot opinion on the market.
@WaywardNorth4 ай бұрын
Used is always a good route to consider as well. I dont imagine the C70 dropping too much in price however but it would definitely be a competitive price now with the C80 release for sure.

As a c70 owner who shoots weddings i would say the c70 is not a beginner camera. The image is beautiful but takes some skills

There are insane deals on used Nikon Z8’s. Especially for what it offers. And now Nikon offer those Red luts for FREE?!?!? yeah, that might be the move…….
@chrischadwick14 ай бұрын
Also the R6mk2 ain't gonna overheat. Certainly not in 4k 24. It heats up on long b rollsessions using the 4k 60 but if you overheat the r62 you're doing something wrong. Just switch it off intermittently when your shooting broll and you'll be fine.
