I LOVE my 40mm 2.5. Perfect travel lens for street photography. Also nice for some portrait shots too! This is what has mostly stayed on my a7c 85% of the time.

That’s dope! Glad to hear you’re enjoying it! I’ve gotta replace my 35mm f1.8 that’s APS-C but that’s a tall order to fill lol I can’t wait to try it though!

I guess I will share a different experience :) - I had the 27mm on Fuji (40mm equiv), I carried it daily for a year for its tiny size, used it maybe a couple of times, it's such a strange focal length for me: too narrow for a walk around or for capturing the scene, not narrow enough for portraits and to get those 50mm subject shots. I ended up selling it. But I guess everyone's different! It does make it a bit different with stabe and clear zoom though, as that lens effectively becomes a 44 to 65mm give or take. Hmm.

I’ve been using the Viltrox 16mm f1.8 for the past week while on vacation and it’s been great. I’ve been amazed by the performance. I brought my Sony 16-35 f4 PZ just in case, but the Viltrox has made me shelf the Sony.

Lol I wholeheartedly agree about the prices for the G master lenses. I’ve been thinking about renting the tamron 17-28 for my trip to Florida. Keep you posted.

The Tamron zooms are legit and they have a very close minimum focusing distance. Put on pro mist filter and it’s incredible! The G master lenses are DOPE and definitely are amazing but I’m not ready to grab one just yet lol

I want the ZVE1 in white. People don’t bother you when filming with a small white camera. I loved the ZVE10, but this looks so stable.

Surprisingly, the looks you get from creating out in public go from slightly curious because you have a camera to it instantly becoming cool because it’s a white camera lol Everybody else is focused on themselves. So far, haven’t gotten any extra looks or attention really which is cool.

I’m so glad this video popped up. That Tamron 20mm 2.8 weighs so little. ZVE1 is better than Sony A6700. I bought both, but when the Sony A6700 arrived today, the dials were so small and rough. The lack of light on the small sensor was so noticeable after being spoiled with the ZVE1.
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah! It's definitely got its quirks like it lens noises but for what I've been using it for as a daily driver, I've honestly loved this lens. I think it's tough to compare the A7S 3 low light sensor of the ZV-E1 to the a6700, even as awesome as it is lol It might require a bit more finessing or depends on what lens and lighting situation. I think that's one of the things I'm having to let go since using the ZV-E1, I don't have to worry about lighting lol It's a weird situation to be in lol

Great topic. Small lenses for a small body. My Sony 24mm f2.8 pretty much lives on my zv-e1.

If Sony could make a 16 2.8 like the compact 24mm, I would be so glad. My vlogging arm was shaking with the A7IV and Sigma 16-28. I want ZVE1 with a tiny 16 mm. Thought of APSC Sony 15mm.
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
Sony actually did make a 16mm f1.8 compact lens, I used it all the time lol it's just for APS-C vs Full Frame lol It'd be O-Mazing if they made a series of compact ultra-wide f2.8 vlogging and creator friendly lenses but I have yet to find them, or they don't exist. I FEEL YOU on the shaky arms lol I do not lift weights and the A74 had me ready to hit the gym big time lol 🤣 Even with the Sigma 16mm f1.4 it was a heavy girl, so I knew it wasn't for me lol

I ordered my ZV-E1 which should arrive in the next 2 weeks, now I'm trying to pick a couple of lenses. I'm leaning towards the Viltrox 28mm F1.8 for talking head, with dynamic stabe and/or clear zoom it gives you basically 35mm which is perfect for talking head, but the versatility to go a bit wider in a small studio - I find my 23mm f1.4 on APS-C very good but sometimes just a bit too tight in a small studio (similar size to yours). Then for vlogging and most other things, the Viltrox 16mm F1.8, as with stabe and clear zoom, it's effectively an 18-27mm f1.8, super versatile range. Later on, I think also a 50mm which I won't use stabe on much but with clear zoom that's around 50-75mm. I was initially looking at 20mm F1.8 (as I LOVE my 13mm Viltrox F1.4 on APS-C), but with dynamic stabe on, it's just a bit too tight. Plus you can effectively get that 20mm using clear zoom out of the Viltrox 16mm, what do you think?
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
@rguafman Ah! If you're going for a 35mm equivalent, it's really gonna depend on where you set your camera up and how much space you have to frame up everything you're trying to get in the shot. I use the 35mm f1.8 on the ZV-E10 for example for my live stream setup, and that requires at least a minimum of 4 feet to get a small talking headshot window. That's why I dropped down to a 20mm for talking headshots on full frame for a wider perspective, similar to my Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens. You also have to remember to factor in the lenses minimum focusing distance per lens because they each vary. Tamron tends to be one of the lenses that have a closer minimum focusing distance which is why I chose it because it has more flexibility. So, depending on what lenses you're considering, check into that as well. For some things you just won't know until you try it lol One thing you can never factor in when you're watching videos is how long somebody's arm is lol It makes a difference lol I've since switched to the a different vlogging tripod that gives me a bit more extra reach because I don't have super long arms lol And the other thing is how you walk and talk. Sounds silly but if you talk with your hands, like me, then you are going to have to stop yourself from shaking the camera while vlogging. You also gotta tighten up a bit to just get used to holding the camera at what will be a normal and natural height for you on the camera when vlogging. So, with the updated IBIS, if you lens has OSS depending on what you use, Standard or Active Stabe might be fine for you. I don't use Dynamic Active all the time. Sometimes Active or Standard is better. So focal length wise, 20mm is find if you're good with Standard Stabe and Active on occasion, but if you want ultra wide, you're going to need to go a bit wider.

@@DianaGladney I've been watching too many reviews but seems the f1.4 has a lot of focus breathing, with compensation it crops in quite a bit. The f1.8 is not only cheaper but seems to be a better option for video (but the f1.4 is better for photos).

What about the Tamron 20-40mm F2.8? Looks like a great lens for the ZVE-1.
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
That lens is actually great from what I've seen, but 20mm is too tight for me personally. That's why I'm going the 16-28mm f2.8 version instead because I'd prefer it to be wider than to have a bit more reach on the back end with 40mm. So, it's just a personal preference on that one.

I bought the viltrox but it was way too heavy for my a7iv. Im thinking of getting the tamron 17-28. I just bought the zve1 so Im thinking about revisting the viltrox.
@DianaGladney8 ай бұрын
@chrissan6015 What are you primarily using the lens for on your ZV-E1?
@chrissan60158 ай бұрын
@@DianaGladney as a b cam for video as well as a vlogging camera. I worry too much about over heating to make it my A camera. I also have the 11mm1.8 but even in dynamic stabe you still see the vignette. It’s not a deal breaker I’m just trying to find a better option.
@DianaGladney8 ай бұрын
@@chrissan6015 Then, you’re talking about two different lenses. A long enough zoom lens like the 17-28mm would be great for a b-cam angle. However, vlogging with that will get tiring because it’s not lightweight and relatively long for everyday carry. I don’t know what kind of shots you’re trying to get but it doesn’t sound like a wide prime lens is ideal for your goal. If you have the kit lens, put that on the camera and see what focal length range you need for the b-cam. Otherwise, you’ll keep dumping money into lenses hoping to find the right one until you get frustrated with the whole lot lol. Something like the Tamron 11-20mm f2.8 could work but again, I don’t know what focal length makes the most sense for your intended use case. At least the zoom range will get you closer and you can use it in combination with Clear Image Zoom to make up the difference in coverage. Also, instead of buying a bunch of lenses if you really want to test them, rent them. I use LensRentals all the time to rent and test something to see if I want to buy it first. Then, they even have a program where you can buy it if you want and add some of the rental fees towards the purchase. If you haven’t tried them before then this referral link should work in getting you $25 off on your first rental Diana.Link/LensRentals If you have the kit lens, test your focal length and see and let me know and I’ll see where I can help you narrow down some lens options.

Just subscribed! You think 20 mm with the dynamic active stabilization is too tight for handheld vlogging?
@DigiDriftZone Жыл бұрын
Yes, it's effectively 26mm with dynamic stabe (17mm APS-C equivalent), far too tight. 16mm is effectively 20mm with dynamic stabe switched on.
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
So, it's gonna sound funny but it depends lol How long are your arms and what vlogging tripod you plan on using? Doesn't seem like it would matter much, but nobody who vlogs regularly is holding their arm all the way out all the time or with the tripod straight up and down like they show in the video and vlogging stick ads. You're gonna hold your camera at a rested 45 degree type angle, and the vlogging tripod you use (depending on how long it is) will give you a bit extra reach. So, for some, the 20mm is fine, even with Dynamic Active on is fine. I don't' use it all the time and sometimes Standard and Active is fine when you're walking. You also have to account for how much you're moving your arm, unless you're new to vlogging, because even with Dynamic, you're not swaying the camera a ton. So, if you look at folks to use the 20mm f1.8 for vlogging, either they're holding the camera at the tip of the lens or by the lens body, or they have a bit of reach with a vlogging stick. So, 20mm can be a little tricky but to be safe, you might want to go a bit wider.

Do you know someone who customize lenses? Because i really dont want a black lens on the white camera.
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
The only thing I'm familiar with that a lot of creators use to "change the color" of a camera or lens, is to wrap it in a skin. It's safe and actually is a bit of a barrier to keep from scratching your gear. However, you apply it yourself. You may want to ask about any specific color or pattern that you like and see what they have available. They have a camo white skin for lenses but you can probably just get an all white or silver type thing if you want. I'd recommend messaging them first though. Hope that helps. What’s your take on the kit lens of the zve1 ?
@DianaGladney Жыл бұрын
I think 28mm can be a bit too tight in some situations but overall I actually like it. It’s small, lightweight, and you can still create great looking content with it. It’s not something I’d recommend in a video like this because for a lot of folks it’ll be the default lens until they find what they really like and want in a lens to let the ZV-E1 shine in video.
