Budget Friendly Summer Container Ideas | Refresh With Impatiens Begonias

Join me as we put together 2 full sun pots and one shade pot for my front and side porches. These were done on a budget using annuals that I started from seed and perennials from my yard. The plants used were impatiens, wax begonia, tuberous begonia, lysimachia christinae, creeping jenny, dusty miller, and lobelia.

On my deck I have full sun pots and window baskets, with coral geraniums, yellow petchoa, and white Bacopa that I grew from seeds! So gratifying, and I got some confidence from watching yours and She’s a Mad Gardener videos! I have one shade pot with a coral tuberous begonia, some white/yellow/green coleus, and more Bacopa. Out front in my shade window boxes, I have coleus, pink and white begonia, polka dot plant, creeping Jenny, wire vine, purple Alternanthera, and the ones that are part shade have some pink geraniums. My full sun have more light pink geraniums, white and pink petunias, guara centerpieces, Alternanthera, and vinca vine.

Love your pot recipe! I aways buy a wasabi coleus to put in the center of my pots every year because they grow huge and can be in sun or shade.

Thank you! I'll have to get a wasabi coleus and try it. Have you ever tried rooting its cuttings or collecting seeds from it? That might be a fun experiment. 😊💟

Hi Steph! I'm so happy to hear that the plants that you purchased from me are doing great. Yay!! 🥰 In the past, I've purchased seeds from Burpee, Park Seed as well as Outside Pride. Honestly, though, I've really been trying to collect my own seeds whenever possible (especially for annual and perennial flowers) just to cut down on cost. But no what, starting your own plants from seed (be it store bought or collected yourself) is definitely the way to go when it comes to cost-savings! 😊🪻
