Good info about heeling - but amazed that works well enough in cold NH. Only other comment is - ditch the Lysimachia. Don't sell or share plants that are a pain in the butt to remove and eradicate. We planted this years ago and it took a couple years to truly eliminate. Besides, so many good native alternatives that can be useful for critically important insects.

Does this work for ivy geraniums as well? When you say to water them once a month, do you mean you spritz the roots or dip them in water? Thank you.

Thanks for making this video. It’s helpful for me to see that you heel plants in the ground too. This is my first year doing it as well. I propagated nepeta and Chicago Fig for 1st time and hopefully they make it over the winter ( Pa zone 7)😊

It feels so good to hear you say "it's all right" we definitely feel overwhelmed at this time of year, we need to speak to ourselves to calm down, and that's exactly what your video does to our frantic minds, thanks Vita, keep up the good work and good vibes 🥰

I love seeing what you are up to. I cannot do a quarter of what you can do physically. I wish I still could. But I putter around the yard and hire out what I can’t do. God’s blessing to you and your family.

I have to gather all of my leaves, chop them and put on my garden beds. Plant daffodils and tulips. Hopefully I will get done this weekend. We got 2’ of snow a week ago, so some things I can’t do yet.

I so relate to this! I don't have a business yet, but I have a "nursery" because I love to propagate, like you, and I've been feverishly planting flowers out for months and re-doing my beds. I can't believe it will be Thanksgiving next week. I'm going to heel in the rest of my plants that are extra in hopes that once they've over wintered they might sell in the spring (mostly foxgloves and hydrangeas) for some extra gardening money. I found that people weren't so interested in foxgloves in the fall, even though it seems like the best time to plant them to me.

Howdy from Australia. Just about to start growing vegetables in sub tropical Queensland and discovered the 5 best plants to attract predatory insects are Achillea, Alyssum, Dill, Cosmos and parsley. I googled Alyssum and your channel came up. Summer starts here Dec 1 guess that’s winter for you.

Question…when you winter sow perennials, and you know they will not bloom the 1st year, do you keep those plants in your nursery the 1st year? I have been saving milk jugs all year and hope to have lots of perennials this Spring.

Living in the low AZ desert I guess heeling in my pots during our extreme hot summers may help them survive. I gave up trying to have late spring/summer gardens.

You have a bigger property than I do, HOW DO you keep wildlife from eating everything you grow out side? I deal with rabbits and birds that eat seedlings and small plant. I now cover anything I am starting with tulle or in a shade room we made. I am turining my hobby into a small business this year. Our first SALE is this weekend. I hope it is successful!

I am maintaining my garlic bed ( watering we haven’t had enough rain from August until this morning to say so. Built a new raised bed for strawberries next spring,filling it with one layer of cardboard some pine shavings , chicken coop cleanings two five gallon buckets. Then topped of with leafs and horse manure,added some worms and will let it sit for the winter months. Working on a big bunch of compost to fill the bed next spring. Do you plant strawberries? Wondering what varieties work for you?

You have a lot of work ahead of you girl! I cant wait to see your plants next spring. We got light snow here in SE MI. 😢 I'm so sad. My gardening season is over. I'm still gathering up leaves and whipping them into mulch to lay on top of the cardboard in the landscape. I havent had the heart to overwinter my geraniums yet because they're blooming like crazy ❤ so I've been putting them in the shed at night and bringing them out during the day. I'll probably overwinter them this weekend. Gonna use the paper bag method. 👍🏻 Hoping they make it thru the winter. 🤞

Hi. Can you just bring it in as a houseplant and wait till it dies back to remove the tuber from the soil? There were a few that did not bloom all summer (I live in Atlanta) and they started blooming now but the temps are getting in the 30's at night.

Anxious to hear how many New Guinea Impatiens Seeds actually germinated! I can't find your video on the results from this video. Did you post one? Please let me know. I have been sowing NG Impatiens for the last 3 years and sowing side by side like you do, using heat mat set on 74 degrees, with a moisture dome and LED Lights, I usually get 60% red, 75% lavender, and 10% white seeds to germinate. I have tried different seed maufactures and I get relatively the same germination percentage. How did you do with yours. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Thank you

I cut and saved the blossoms. They were not brown. Can I still get coleus seeds after the blossoms dry?
@budgetgardeningvita3 күн бұрын
Hi Mary. I don't typically recommend this for seed collecting since the seeds should really be ripened on the flower stalk in order to insure seed viability. If you live in a warm enough area where the coleus are not going to be hit with a frost anytime soon, I would recommend keeping some flower stalks on there and waiting for them to turn brown. Otherwise I would try this process again next year. Good luck, friend. 😊🌻

I love to forage for winter pots and usually do it after Thanksgiving. I can find almost everything in my own yard but sometimes supplement with things like magnolia leaves, that I purchase. I don't like to cut from my red twig dogwood so will often purchase that or curly willow. In the past I've spray painted branches but think I also prefer the natural look. I don't have teasel but have lots of seed heads from ornamental grasses, astillbe and echinacea. Your pots are beautiful. Love the birch logs.
