I didn't want to lose the factory rock rails, so I installed the Ace Engineering rock sliders, which work in complement with the stock rock rails. I just installed them on Lizzie, my '23 JLU Willys, and I had them on my 2020 Gladiator Rubicon as well. They work great, because even though I am not lifted yet, my wife is 5'1", and she wouldn't be able to easily get in otherwise.

@@DIRTROADCRED Yea, since they mount with the body-mount bolts, the only hard part is getting those bolts out. Front had red loctite, back 2 hack blue loctite, all 6 bolts took a blowtorch, a 1/2" breaker bar, and some elbow grease before I would touch them with the impact. I have heard too many horror stories of people snapping their body-mount bolts by accident by using an impact wrench when they are loctited in. Better to break them loose manually first.

Matt, it looks great!!! I am actually removing my "plastic steps" that came with my Rubi and replacing them with the Rubi Rock Rails. It's not lifted, so getting in is not an issue. If I decide to add steps, this may be an options. There are so many choices. This is a good option for you until you decide to try something different. Thanks... Great video.... Those are nice-I did consider those, but I went with the OEDRO Running Boards with Two Stairs Design All-Steel Build-they serve the same purpose and just under 400 bucks-that extra step is nice when I'm strapping something down on top of the Jeep. Thanks for the info always appreciated.

NOTE: if you install body mounted sliders, the front body mounts where put on using red locktite and WILL break on the way out. I snapped mine and have seen quite a few others do the same. I got lucky and it sheared off at the head and I had about 1/2 to work with. But heat seams the best route to go.

30 seconds with a propane torch and a 1/2" breaker bar are how I got mine loose, at least to the point that I felt the impact wrench was safe. Did it on my Gladiator 3 years ago, and on my JLU yesterday. They definitely don't want those bolts budging. That red loctite is no joke.
@Wrangzilla Жыл бұрын
@@lonewulf0328 I ended up using an induction heater. 45 seconds and those bolts are 400 degrees… and with no radiant heat to other parts…

Hello, I did LoD Destroyers on mine (2019 JLUR). I've seen a video or two showing the entire Jeep being lifted by folk lifts by them, so I know they are pretty sturdy. I did JCRs on another build I once owned. RSE's are the best IMHO on the market but I am not too sold on power and the price point was to me, unacceptable, as it stands I will have just over $42K in parts and labor building my current (first "R") JLUR. In fact, "R" period. The thrill for me is the build and built mine sure is.

HA. I was going to mention rust. The first thing I usually do with an Amazon “cheapy” is rust treatment and paint touch up. Gets me years of worry free use if I hit them with a little low in the beginning. I use the Harbor Freight in house brand of stuff and smile cause my small cash outlay looks just about as good as the big spenders.

Forgot to mention - I’m a big guy. So I usually hand snug it up and jump on the step to get it to the bottom most point. That way, I don’t scratch the heck out of my Jeep when the mounting hardware migrates over time.

I’ve got a Clayton lift, Motobilt bumpers waiting to go on that are all American made, I hate to tell you but most things are produced with foreign raw materials, this is a temporary fix
@kg0311 Жыл бұрын
@DIRT ROAD CRED Yes I'm aware, even still, I still prefer American Built or Made to support American jobs vs any foreign jobs, from anywhere, even if it costs more. And more specifically, US Small Business, and US Veteran Owned Small businesses. I find that from the raw material, to the build and design, to the finish and down through customer service and perhaps warranties and returns, it's well worth the money. I have been down the attempts to request a refund from Chinese companies like the OUJABU or DIYAOWA type that you see on Amazon, and recently penetrating some places like extremeterrain and Northridge's market place. Majority of the time your money is out of your pocket the second you click pay. People need to understand the value of products is far beyond the sticker price. Being able to fulfill a warranty, return, or just basic questions with a business who answers the phone is invaluable to me, and that's why im willing to pay the higher 'sticker price', personally.
