I wish I could help you but I never tried the other camera. I only have M50. You should go to store, leg them show you both cameras and test them out. See which one feels better and what you like... all the best.

At first I was a bit unsure about the camera honestly. I wanted ot for video only. Video part surprised me lots and I am super happy about the camera. Then I started to play with photos and first I wasnt too thrilled mainly because everything was blocked. Couldnt use my studio lights but then I found out that I have to enable in settings... I had to change few other settings and now it works like my DSLR. The longer I have it and use it the more I like it.... very honest answer.

Forgot to say, you're doing a fantastic promotion job on the M50. Canon should pay you for this. I don't usually buy new stuff these days, but after watching your videos on this subject, I'm very tempted to buy the M50. Your KZbin 4K videos are pin-sharp with the combination that you use -congratulations. I'm not a pro photographer, but consider myself to be an advanced amateur with over 60 years experience in photography, starting with film/cine and later converting to digital.

I really like the EF-M STM lenses. I've got the 15-45, which is my standard vlogging lens. The only problem is always the aperture. Having just used it in a professional context in a dark room with no available lighting and little opportunity to put in artificial lighting, it really showed up the limitations. Put on a "nifty fifty" and at f1.8 it suddenly became perfectly usable on the M50. The one i think you've missed here is the 22mm pancake lens. I have that one but didn't take it. At f2.0 that would have solved my problem with the 15-45.

What you are saying Jeff is pretty much what my thoughts are on it. I didn't include 22mm pancake lens because I simply don't like that one... lol... as I mentioned I prefer zoom lenses and for me 22mm is very limited. I don't like moving back and forth.. I prefer to frame my shots right away in my camera so I don't have to do any cropping in Photoshop. I know that other people which prefer prime lenses would like that lens most likely. 50mm would probably do well in dark situations. I am thinking about doing a video about testing the M50 in low light and show some settings as people asked me about it.... might be done in the future but I need to test it out... Have a great day!

I have purchased this camera and I am waiting for it to arrive. I found your channel and I am learning a lot thus far. I make a lot of videos for my channel but I have been using quite inferior all AUTO camcorders. The M50 is my first 'real' camera. I love your videos that were not filmed in 4K but this one is not as good. The contrast focus is a real drawback. I think I will use 1080 mode for most of my videos. the 11 to 22 justifies its position as a second pro body, the samyang fisheye is at the same level of usefulness, a speedbooster just makes it a great tool

Thanks for sharing!I totally agree with your recommendations. I've had the M-50 since November 2018. I purchased it with the 15-45mm kit lens. It is a great general use lens. I primarily shoot nature so I knew I would need a telephoto lens. I purchased the 55-200mm. It is so lightweight and does a fantastic job. It also does a nice job for macro if someone isn't able to purchase the Macro 28mm. I have the Macro 28mm and highly recommend it if you shoot a lot of macro but if someone can only afford 2 lens the 15-45mm and 55-200mm have the widest range of uses. Since I love to shoot landscapes I will also be purchasing a wider angle lens as well. Thanks so much for putting videos out there for the Canon M-50 community!!!

great stuff...got m50 with 15-45mm lens in a kit and recently purchase ef-m 22mm f/2 pancake lens :) going for a trip to Edinburgh Scotland soon and still not sure which one to choose shooting with :) yes 22mm f/2 give more light but doesnt have any zoom and for that lens I still didn't get filters...but it's nice (small) for travel....which one should you choose?

I spoke to sound engineer a close friend of mine and he said it is fine but once in few months someone says something.... would you know please on amazon which mic should do the job? Mybudget is not too high... lol... I looked at some what you suggest but they are all over the place with pricing... $40 to few hundred... what price range should I look at or if you even know over model which could do decent job I would be very grateful..... thank you so much!!!!!!!!!

just did some research on the difference. I don't think the condenser mic is for me. You have to have studio sound proofed which I dont' have... also it will pick up any background sounds which my basement has... good dynamic mic is better from what I hear everywhere... what is your opinion on it and why do you recommend condenser especially if I am working in echo empty space.

Went to the good camera shop on the weekend to show and discuss the problems but couldn’t get a clear answer to the apparent incompatibility however he tested my new EF 70-300 mk II NANO on the M50 which performed better at 200mem than his favourite EF 70- 200L IS mk II. I hope you can get somewhere with Canon about my 600L F4 problem. Thanks, Paul.

you said you filmed in 4K to test it out. I wonder if the auto focus on 4K is problematic. As you moved closer too the lens and then away from the lens, it lost focus a tiny bit but came right back to clear focus.

Thank you very much for this video. I am new with the M50 and only have the 15-45 mm kit lens. I have been looking around like crazy what lens to buy next, but after watching video after video online I just get more and more confused. Should I get an adapter and use EF line lenses or should I try the EOS-M lenses. Most videos on YT only shows the vlogging capabilites on f.ex EOS-M 11-22mm and I am NOT interested in vlogging, only taking good (Hopefully great) pictures. I love your videos, you are very good at explaining things for a beginner like me, and this video really got to me. My next 2 purchases will be the 11-22mm lens and the 55-200mm. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts with me. To be very honest with you... if you are pushing for photography and not video. I would really try not to rush into buying cheap lenses and slowly buy very good very low F stop lenses... the EOS-M lenses are great only the prime lenses... zoom lenses have quite high F stops so it won't be that great in low light.... but you don't need too many for photography.... I only used 3 lenses my all 15 years... telephoto, portrait and wide angel... that is all... all the best! 😀

@@ZdenkaDarula You are probably right. Cheap is usually not the best answer if you are trying to become professional. But that is not my aim. My goal with photography also includes getting out and move around in beautiful environments (and get a decent workout while doing so) I am never going to buy these +2000$ lenses but maybe settle with something middleworthy. Right now I just started with photography, and buying one or 2 cheap lenses will just be for evaluation, to see how far I go, and if I start enjoying this more and more, I will put a little more finances into it. But the 11-22 and 50-200mm will do fine just for now :) I really appreciate your advices tho!

I just purchased the canon M50 and I understand I need to purchase an adaptor to use the full line of Canon lenses...But, do you suggest a particular lens line over the other, as far as EF vs RF, and one being more compatible with the m50 or does that not matter at all? Hi Zdenka, I am finding that my 600 L F4 IS is giving soft focus results on my new M50, almost back focusing? I bought the new Canon 70-300 II Nano and the results aren’t great when I crop right in. The Eos M lenses without the adapter are giving excellent results. I have the correct Canon adapter and have set everything up properly on a tripod. My EF lenses are sharp when used on my DSLRs. Hope you can help or make some enquiries to shed some light on this problem. Thanks, Paul.

Hi, zdenka i have just started with my journey on being a photographer and i did buy a canon m50 (with std. 15-45 STM + additional 55-250 is2 telephoto lens) after a discussion with a friend (photographer) and then started to search about different videos about it came across your channel and immediately became a fan also decided to hold onto my decision of buying canon m50 only. It is not the best for 4K because the autofocus is not the best in 4K..... it is more of a 1080p camera.

My 2 favorites after the kit lens are the EF-M 22 prime lens natively and the EF 50mm f/1.8 using the Viltrox EF-M2. I do much more video than photography though.

Canon EF-M 11-22mm - is a 400 USD lens is considered cheap lens ? I bought a point and shoot camera 7 years back with 18MP 20x Optical zoom for 300 USD, it was sony dsc-hx20v. Prices of DSLR and Mirrorless camera branded lenses are sky rocketing... Arent there any 3rd party (non-canon) Lenses which are cheaper for a Wide angle photography may be under 200 USD ?

I am new subscriber and I love your videos , I could listen to you all day. I have a question what lens would you use on the M50 with the adapter that uses regular canon lenses that are equivalent to the lenses you mentioned?

As of now, i only own the 15-45mm lens that came with the kit i purchased. I would love to get the 11-22mm lens though! You should check out the Viltrox EF-EOS M2 Lens Adapter and let us know what you think of it. Think Media and Kinotika did a review on it yesterday and it looks awesome.

Hello, I have 18-150 mm f/3.5 -6.5 canon lens.. is there any setting to have a decent bokeh.... Is this lens enough? I am planning to purchase Lens hood and cpl filter as well. I am waiting for speed booster for my ef-m lens ... Do you thing is this possible....???

The lens starts at f/3.5 so you are not going to get too much bokeh… keep settings at f/3.5 and dong go higher

Hi, thank you for your video! A question if I may: I have just started vlogging and invested in some Moment lenses for my phone. Over the KZbin I see a lot of videos saying stuff like: you don’t need a camera nowdays, iPhone is good enough. What is the reason to buy a camera if the phones shoot good video? What are the adventages and what can a camera do (beside optical zoom) that phone can not? Would really appreciate any answer, thank you!

Perfect set up.... 50mm 1.8 lens is amazing so you are good there... I haven't tested out the 18 - 150mm but if you are happy then that is all you really need... that is wide range. Have fun shooting! 🌞

you will be laughing... zoom in and zoom out? I just do it in post production.. just zoom in on the clip at 105 - 120% that is all... :):):) I try to do things VERY simple.. lol.

To be honest... full from is still full frame... this is entry level camera so you really cannot expect it to be as good.. it is like comparing cheap car to an expensive one... it is not bad, but I still rather shoot with Mark iii

I am glad you liked the video. I didn't include on purpose 22mm... simply as I explained in the video I am not fan of prime lenses because I need zoom. I like to frame my shots right away in camera so I never have to do any cropping in Photoshop. I just like the zoom much better. I tried primes but it was more headache for me... I didn't like constantly moving back and forth... however I do know that there are photographers which enjoy primes and they are great in low light. It was simply my honest opinion what I would suggest... thank you very much for reaching out and have a great weekend!

If you need it only for photos that I would say you don’t really need a big camera because iPhone 11 does take great photos. But if you need it for a little bit serious photography work and you need a good lenses and definitely will have to have a camera. 🎥😊📸🎬

Hi, Zdenka i just wanted your guidance if i want to go ahead and buy a lens to shoot the night sky stars and wider angle will it be better to buy a canon 24mm f/2.8 instead of 50mm f/1.8 which will be better please guide as both are more or less nearer in the pricing as the current i have is 15 45 stm 3.5 to 6.3 which 1 will be better as a night sky photography and wider will f/2.8 does it serve that sky with the stars.

Just got my CANON EOS M-50 in november and lenses are such and Issue but what **EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW** which i never knew and i THOUGHT I did my research on this camera b4 ever even purchasing. I about Killed myself trying to find lenses for this camera!! I bought a Standard lense and a Canon EF-M 15-45mm F/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens and that is all i could afford for now but I really wanted a good Zoom lense and for close up vlogs but getting everything in the frame. I thought this lense was that but 4 GET It, If that is what you want and you really want to Zoom, this lense will very much disappoint or it did for me. BUT if you want a General Zoom and a good "All Around" lense, this I found is GREAT 4 That! But what I wasnt aware of is that you dont have to BREAK THE BANK for M-50 bc of it only taking certain lenses which are an EF-M lense ONLY for this camera!!!....and their are only like 5 lenses total (i am just trying to make a point i am really not sure how many, but not a LOT to choose from) However Here's the TIP that I NEVER KNEW and Everyone looking for lenses and busting their butts AND Bank to get lenses, STOP NOW BC there IS a UNIVERSAL ATTACHMENT you can purchase for about $200 DOLLARS at BESTBUY!!! Then you can use ANY Of the CANON LENSES i.e. the EF lenses included!!! Or ANY of them out there 4 CANON!! ***BOOM*** Thats My tip! But what lense would YOU recommend for Full frame shots very close up?? Thank you!🎥👀😀💕😍🎬🌴👍💙

Hello Mari, Yes I've already made a video about that in my past video here kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHS8e6qVp55sedE where you can attach those expensive lenses... this video was more intended for new people starting out with limited budget, who don't own the big lenses. I personally have professional lenses and this EF-M line and I use them both equally.... for me it is not so much about the lens. I definitely suggest ef-m 22mm f2.0 - its sharp, and very fast. and.... so smallllllll..... the best choice for interiors, museums, and interior shots of person, believe me it's greate (con: no stabilisation)

Nice information, but I was distracted by the camera constantly trying to focus on you and the poor audio quality, bouncing around your space. I would suggest setting your focus and disabling autofocus, as well as using a lav mic. You'll make even better videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

@@ZdenkaDarula I have no luck finding a bright ~14mm F1.8 prime for Canon - which usually is my most used lens - wide and bright - camp fire, Night Sky, indoors without annoying flash etc Worst part about needing a flash with slow lenses is that everybody starts posing, it messes up the whole thing.
