Since I lost my husband 4 years ago I haven't created anything at all. I had no desire to try. My granddaughter lives with me and she's 8 yrs old. She has severe OCD. We watch your videos and you inspire the both of us. I have never tried mixed media or art journaling but Madison asked me if we could do what you do. I think it would help her. It would help me. You inspire us. We need to heal. A creative outlet can help you heal. I had no desire for years and years even before my husband passed away. Now I do. Madison does. We thank you Marta. May God bless you abundantly. You have a beautiful soul. 😊

Four and a half years for me. I totally understand where you were when you wrote your message. I've made a couple of small presents recently...but other than that, I've figured that at least getting back to watching craft videos is at least something. Wishing us both healing crafting. x

So sorry for your loss. I went through something similar. My father-in-law passed away a few years ago … I looked after him for years. It took me forever to do anything in my craft room. Finally, thanks to Marta and Ceri Griffiths they inspired me want to craft again. I hope this helps you and your granddaughter. And yes, Marta does have a beautiful soul. Sending healing light and love ❤

Okay Marta, I found your channel about a week or so ago, and I learn something from every one of them. From this one I learned: Number 1: keep piling and remember it is all getting covered with gesso, so go for it. Number 2: Sometimes it looks as good upside down than right side up... at 28 minutes in, you turned it upside down and it looked like a church with a doorway and all the little wooden elements looked like a congregation coming to church! So I learned that if you don't like it the way you think is the right direction... change directions! Number 3: I learned I can enjoy using up the 'crap' that I have piled around and stick it together and cover it up with paint and it won't look like 'crap' any more! Thanks Marta... as soon as my workshop is complete this is exactly what I am going to do. Now... on to another of your interesting and fun videos... Keep 'em coming!

Once I have made something like a junk "selfmade-canvas" too and it turned out that one of the best pieces I ever made. I totally forgot about it but now I remember it, while you are just taking the hot glue to create something and not just to glue things on. I didnt had anything and no really idea and it is the best example that you dont need "special art things" (like special colors, brushes, glues) to create some. Because I had nothing, I checked the garage what I can find there... here is what I did: At first I had no canvas, so I instead took the lid from an old shoe box and an old piece of tablecloth, wich I dipped into wallpaper paste, draped it a bit wildly and wavy on the lid and let it dry. As backgroundcolor I choosed the silver paint spray I found and let it dry again. Then I took every little things I found laying around. From colored or black pins, nails, screws a small hex wrench and other handy things about small boxes, plastic jewelry and so on. I still had no idea what it should be. But THEN!, towards the end, I discovered a fat black gummy spider from an old slimy-pack (do you remember these?) and I took it. Yeay, that was exactly what I needed! :D I glued the things on with hot glue and I pulled extra threads with it, what created the effect of a spider web. After all, I still missed something. I took an old CD, the ones that have the turquoise-blue colored shimmery on the backside and broke it into pieces, so I could highlight some contours of the cloth on one side with it. GREAT! It looked like a big spiders hiding place, that you can imagine in lonely old houses somewhere behind a wall. I loved it and it was the first and only piece I hung up in my apartment. Everyone who saw it was absolutely thrilled and wanted to have it. Unfortunately it broke as we moved few years later. :( But who would expect that wallpaper paste, hot glue, lacquer paint, junk and a gummy Spider are enough to make impressing art :D

I love how this came out and I had my doubts! : O This is silly but one of my favorite elements is the zipper at the bottom. The string also makes a big difference, it's amazing how it all comes together when painted. I wanted you to put a bit of pink or red on that sunshine looking white thing between the orange and green side. I have made compositions and painted everything black with touches of gold or silver but I've never used my sprays so into the garbage bin I go! My sweet husband picks up silver objects in the parking lots or bits of change to add to my somethings! : )

This is my first mixed media piece of art I have seen made. When looking at mixed media art they are so gorgeous it's so intimidating, I just think I can't do that! But you broke up all the elements so nicely it is actually something I can see myself doing. Thank you so much for that. What are the sprays that you use? I know you said you don't need them but I would like to look into getting some. Xx
@anne-mareesleigh86677 жыл бұрын
That was so stunning! I was unsure how it would turn out, although I was sure it would be lovely, but as usual you produced something spectacular. I was especially amazed at the result of adding the spray colours. After you put the gesso on things it looked a bit flatter, and I figured that was fair enough, there was still texture there. But when you started adding the colours and all the different levels showed up again it was incredible. It reminds me of backdrops and scenery in sci fi and fantasy movies (my favourite types of films). All these little nooks and crannies that hide all manner of adventures. So beautiful. And never be afraid to praise yourself. We need to do more of it. Being able to acknowledge that we have produced something to be proud of should never be seen as a bad thing. There is a difference between saying 'this looks great, I'm happy with how this has turned out' and "i am so much better than everybody else.' The former one is the one that we need to do more of, and the later is the one we think we do too much, but they aren't the same thing. Be proud of your achievements, and don't be afraid to congratulate yourself. Ok, I'll stop lecturing now. Thank you for sharing your talents.
