Great job explaining what you need and not what you had that you wanted. I have a JL Wrangler Unlimited Sport. So, not nearly as much room as you have. My set up is similar in that I carry recovery gear, a camp box with kitchen stuff in it, water, a Coleman two burner stove that probably should be a one burner since I don't use two at the same time, and I either sleep in the Jeep or in a tent. I do have a roof rack that holds my Roof Bag which holds my tent, sleeping bag, sheets and blankets and clothes. So pretty basic. My go to camping food is peanut butter, canned soup, and other nonperishable foods because I have a cooler not a refrigerator and ice melts. I do like your choice of ribeye. I, too, could eat that every day. I should bring some along for the 2 or 3 day trips. I don't use paper plates but use an old pie pan for a plate and have a spoon, fork and knife. I also have a cast iron skillet and a pan for the soup. I should probably get a steel bumper for the rear of my Jeep so that I could have a swingout to hold extra fuel. My two Jerry cans take up a lot of room in the rear and I found out they are too heavy to put on the roof rack when I am bouncing around the desert. So, yes, like you, I could get a lot of cool stuff that would be nice and look good but I don't need it. Thanks for the walkaround.

Had a local yota overland shop swap it. They dropped the front diff to gain access. Appreciate the thoroughness of your content.
@Whitedogoverland8 ай бұрын
Welcome! I did do the steering rack myself but it was a huge PITA. Probably could have saved a lot of time dropping the diff right off the get go but spent a full day trying to get it out on its own. Not a fun job but totally doable. The 09-12 had a steering rack epidemic so hopefully replacement should cure any steering issues for some time.

@@Whitedogoverland hey thanks for the reply! Yeah from what I have read, it seems likeit is quite the job. Although I am more competent than most on the tools (tradesman/electrician/wrench turner)…from my understanding there is a lot of work involved. Apparently “dealership shop book time” is 19 hours. My shop did it in 7. Out the door was approximately 2500 with a remanned rack and labour. There doesn’t seem to be much content online and KZbin regarding a DIY swap. The inquisitive side of me would love to have a more thorough understanding of how to approach it…if I were to tackle it myself - (in the event it should happen again). Any tips / references would be appreciated. 90% of every job is planning. Better to have and not need…than to need and not have 🤙 Good for you for tackling it yourself!! Cheers!
