mrs ivt because parents are lazy and leave their children's entire education to public schools then they set poor spending examples and it leaves children confused about spending/budgeting.
@LakeshiaRosser6 жыл бұрын
@@melissamuddle6459 Sometimes parents struggle and their parents struggled and weren't able to set the best financial examples this in turn impacts the childrens thoughts about money one way or another. They either get used to struggling and never learn how not to or they remember their struggles and never want to be that way as adults. From what I've witnessed people who struggle tend to be some of the hardest workers and are far from lazy. Be careful what you say about parents and their parenting.....

I love how you have added and evolved your budget book over the years Jen! I love the idea of splitting up the credit reports. I love what you did with the note areas, those are useful! Great job, you are in the home stretch with your debt payoff! Exciting! So I noticed you don’t have gas under sinking funds. Which had me thinking, if you have extra (you don’t use) for that month, where are you tracking that? Do you use your totals to reconcile your checking balance as well? I think that is where I had a hard time with this system when I tried it. So I wanted to pick your brain with it. I get nervous I am using only every dollar because what if it loses my data? Hahah. I think your next videos will help answer my confusion as well. If I see actual numbers (mock up). I find we are changing numbers in places (he has a salary but we have extra income that fluctuates in his check), how do you handle that? Erase and re-write? Thank you! ;) lauren

Lauren Shaft i hope she addresses these. I’m wondering the same thing! The erase and rewrite drives me crazy!
@JenPlans7 жыл бұрын
Hi, friend! Gas money stays in my checking account, and I note the total amount spent each month so I have a general idea of how much is rolling over! I still budget the same amount monthly because that's how much I set aside for it, even if it's not spent. Like a virtual envelope, I guess? And yes, I cross-check with my checking account!

This. Was. Awesome!!! Great video! The way you track and budget just clicks for me because I already do something similar. I love the planner. I tried an Erin Planner before but didn’t like it because I don’t care for the weekly pages. In my head, the monthly spread is what makes sense for me. This must be a newer style planner. For example: having to grab toilet paper or soap, etc.

Hi Jen, it's me again (Barbara Gates) I have watched this video so many times and am so very grateful for your explanation on so many things. I have been doing pretty well since I set mine up in my EC Deluxe Planner...I'm learning something new all the time as my months changes and I have watched so many videos on this subject but yours is still the most in depth and easy to understand. I do have one question...on the page where you total your expenses in the CASH box I've been trying to figure out how you track your cash spending for your groc, (mostly since I don't use but 1 tank of gas). Do you actually track each grocery receipt someplace else and then put down the total or do you just use the amount you take out of the bank every Sat. as your total? I love your style and explanations and wish you had more videos. I also love the sinking funds concept....I'm finally able to save some every payday. Thank you again so very much. Barbara Gates

@536bobbie7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jen:! Love your videos and because of you I really have hope of being able to create and keep to my budget. At 81 years of age I'm finally getting it..but your words, lessons and samples are a fabulous help. Ordered the Deluxe Binder from EC and am really anxious to set it up with your assistance as well as some from Dave Ramsey . Going to try sinking funds too! I have one big question...I am on Social Security and have a small pension as well. My income is very fixed but still workable. My problem is I don't know "WHEN" to set my binder up to start....my check from SS comes 3rd Wed. of month (never same date) and my pension ALWAYS on the 1st. My bills are set up mainly around 22nd but my rent is always on 1st. I would love to have a running 1st to 30th or whatever but is it better to have it basically 21st to 21st? I would so appreciate your input and advice on this as my book is here and I want to set it up. Thanks so much and I look forward to hearing and to more videos. Barbara Gates
@JenPlans6 жыл бұрын
It's really up to you! I like clean start days, so I'd probably work my budget a little so I could pad enough to "start" on the 1st. That would mean that money from the SS check would cover everything AFTER the 1st. You'll need to get a little ahead to do it that way, if you can. If not, it's perfectly fine to budget from the 21st to the 21st!
@anglstampr16 жыл бұрын
I'm working with my mom's budget (she's 76) and she has that exact same problem... working with your creditors to set up their payment dates to coincide with your income is tough. I just got her budget to where she can manage the payments on the 15th, simply because rarely is her Social Security later than the 14th, she can pay her bigger bills from that money, but some of her bills wouldn't budge their due dates, so after the last 6 months of working and manipulating her funds around (and unfortunately from my extra income) we finally got her away from some bad moves (payday advance etc which is going to be gone by the end of this month) but it was tough getting everything organized. I also just bought her the Dave Ramsey Book and Workbook "Total Money Makeover" so she could have a basis to go back to when she needs some refresher once we get her up and running with her new budget (she had never dealt with a budget before so it's totally new for her). Good Luck to you getting your budget and finances up and running and organized.

You are my inspiration I would love to be as organized and have a budget planner so well put together! I have three kids and my husband and I started a moving company about two years ago (which is doing very well ** we are so blessed and thankful) and I just finished nursing school so hopeful I will get a job soon. All that being said I just feel that now that the business is making money Im not saving and budgeting that well. We have trucks with insurance and workers comp and all these bills and money going in and out and I am going CRAZY and need help . I am hoping to pick up an EC monthly planner soon (I think it comes out in early July 2018) AHHH any tips to help with the craziness should I get two? one for business and one for personal ( like my daughters gymnastics and net flicks ) IDK im in need of some wolds of encouragement lol Thanks again I LOVE your videos !!!

You said you were doing 2 videos one on sinking funds which I see but the other was on making your monthly budget work. I don’t see that one. Have you done that one? Your videos are great!

I have been dividing all bills - insurance, dental, all extras, Christmas, by twelve months for about 18 years now. I love this system. I take the cost and divide by 12. The money goes into a "holding fund" savings account.

Hey love the video and the inspiration to get started with my budget and sinking funds. I didn't want to spend a fortune on the planner since I am trying to get my budget straightened out. Do you know if there is another monthly planner that has a similar type setup? I can only find ones with monthly and weekly or monthly with nothing extra to it. Thanks and I hope you keep making lots of videos!

When I get new tires I divide by 24 months and I am usually right on. The refrigerator repair person said they don't warrently motors after 7 years. So that is usually when you will need a new one.

I love your system since ill be budgeting in my plum paper planner!! Also they have 12 month options and you can have them start any month of the year and there's tons of inserts to choose from. Base price is only $62 and it has like all the same stuff if you want to look into them
