Looks fab Olivia and a great idea with the cage. I hear they love blood fish and bone so I’m never sure why people still use it. Hope they all do well with protection, Ali 🌞🇨🇦

Hi Olivia. I am thrilled we are finally getting stuff in the ground. Your new raised bed looks great and, like you, I get happy when I see some fresh compost in a bed and I itch to fill it. My little patch in the garden is already almost filled. I started very early this year, despite the better wisdom of other growers advising to wait haha. I put out 1 of 3 special sunflowers and I tried to protect it but the snails ate it over night, little $u££ers. The last 2 are for sharing so I don't get mine this year. I have tomatoes, broad beans, sweet corn, peas, spring greens, lettuce, cabbage, parsnips, carrots (in buckets), potatoes (in buckets), runner beans and dwarf beans (just popping their heads out of the ground as I write), garlic, spinach, and others. I have a friend with an allotment, so most of my seedlings are going down there over the next couple of weeks. Do you have any fruit growing, like raspberries and strawberries? I bought a raspberry 2 seasons ago and I got one berry last year haha, but this year I had not been out to prune the plant and its stems were over 2.5 metres. I wasn't sure what to do, and I almost lopped off the long stems, but I decided I might be doing the wrong thing, so I put bamboo canes all round the huge pot its in and wound the long stems around it, so it has many spiralling stems. It is full of fruit buds and the bees are loving it and it's well loaded. My only concern is that all the birds will get to the fruit before I do, but I don't think I have any netting to cover it...might have to take down the net curtains lol. Thanks for showing us what you are doing on your allotment, I so wish I could have my own again. Thanks for the video. X

Jimmy you are well ahead, so much growing you must be very experienced. I have a few fruit bushes, gooseberry, redcurrants and brambles which were all on the plot when I took over. I have planted some fruit trees which hopefully give me fruits next year or the following. I will be doing a May tour soon.
