Great video! Love seeing you go deep into the knife and finding all its secrets. We realize majority of Chaves Knife owners prefer the skull clip. While this new line of knives is easier on the wallets, we also wanted to be able to expand the Chaves Family, in order to do this, the plain clip was added, that way a person new to Chaves wouldn’t have to fight over the skull clip first, they could simply enjoy the knife; over time they would most likely adhere to Chaves Community Standards and swap the clips. As you mentioned, scales will be coming soon. A variety of different colored G-10s, titanium, brass, copper, and micarta. Our Red G-10 Exclusives drop on Monday! Ultimate Goals for this line of knives: - Budget friendly! - Customizability! - Spreading Chaves Knives to more people!

@@ChavesKnives Hey, I really appreciate your comment and the information! If you would like to send me a sample of the new scales, I would gladly publish a video about installing them! I would gear the video towards a person who has never modified a knife before. I will be happy to return the scales to you or use them as a giveaway to one of my viewers in the near future. My email address is in the channel description.

Any thoughts on the switch from internal to external screw holes on that infamous skull clip, gentlemen?
@SuperGcraig17 күн бұрын
The way I grip and open the knife the skull bothers my fingers. The plain clip works great without annoyance.

@SuperGcraig I see, the inclusion of the plain clip makes good sense. Thanks!

At 2:12 you mention that the stop-pin's close proximity to it's pivot reduces the torque the blade can exert upon it, but I'm not sure that's right. Wouldn't the stress be increased? In construction, braces are used to keep rigid assembled structures from "pivoting" where they aren't supposed to. The closer a brace is to it's pivot-point, the more force is applied to it, and the weaker it becomes. Because the stop pin is preventing the blade from pivoting past it's designed stopping point, I believe it is a type of brace. And logic would follow that, like a brace, it will be more resistant to buckling forces the further it is placed from the pivot. Okay, back to the video. Love these detailed breakdowns.
@dongkhamet135119 күн бұрын
Interesting point, however there is a clear distinction in the respective functionalities of the construction brace vs the stop pin. The stop pin is subject to impact force from the swinging blade and it is therefore indeed consequent that the greater the distance between pivot and stop pin, the greater the force of impact on the pin at the moment of the knife's closure.

I've always liked the look of the Chavez! Liked the look better with the clip screws on the inside. Guess that tells you which clip I would use ! I've never liked the price so this one might be for my collection. Interesting info concerning Reate's edge bevels !
@CuttingBoardRx19 күн бұрын
I think they changed the pocket screws from mushroom head to flat in order to make them blend in more. Making the screws internal would defeat the whole purpose of this model as one would have to disassemble the knife almost completely to get to them. The idea is to swap scales with minimal effort. Ramon is thinking ahead here 😜

Stop believing Epsteins & Diddys Wall Street cartels #RedScare propaganda about communism. Communism ☭ means the government works for the people (like our Constitution demands) and the laborers own part of the business since it goes nowhere without them. Only the don't need unions. Both parties are left & right butt cheeks of the same union busting slave wages political arse. A Uniparty of Wall St oligarchs, CEOs and stockholders aka co-owners who use divisive theatrics to keep us pitted against each other while they rob, and rape us to death. U.S. min wage is $7.25 per hour. Yet, we're dealing with historic inflation (illegal tax) because of monopolies in every industry governed by their own stockholders. Almost all the manufacturing is in China. They are better off than the US. They aren't dealing with millions of homeless civilians & Veterans, no medical debt because they get universal Healthcare, low rent because they don't let one Wall St giant own all the real estate and jack up rents, property costs, and so on. Capitalism is slavery. I am the great granddaughter of Native American slaves owned by the Moore plantation. 100 million of my people were slaughtered by the great grandparents & parents of Epsteins & Diddys partners-in-crime. They called us merciless savages. A Narcissistic projection: accusing your victims of crap they're actually doing themselves. My Native American autistic savant father was JFKs top cryptologist & code breaker/spook, counterterrorism assassin who kept us out of WW3 during the Cuban Missle crisis. The oligarchs are also high ranking military & Congressman/women, SCOTUS and POTUSs. Goldwaters, Weinbergers, McCains, etc. Their shills were lying to JFK so he would declare war against Russia.
