This issue has been fixed by Microtech and any model of Ram Loc knife dated 05/2024 will have a redesigned lock. Unfortunately, these are not reversely compatible with knives dating 03/2024 or earlier. Knives released in 04/2024 could have either system.

Apparently they were updated and fixed because I’ve been whacking the crap out of my ram lock Msi on my coffee table and nothing…except some new little dents in my coffee table 😬 don’t tell the wife 😅

Recently a subscribed to channel and I’ve learned an awful awful lot so thank you. You bring up a lot of great points. Ian bench Mead is kind of off the chat lately, their knives, especially in their fixed bleed, Knife lines like Brief or white river or actually superior in their functionality and their medical qualities that are much more reasonably priced and even on the Kydex and everything else when they on the fixed plates of faucet. So I think Reef sent a lot of knives out before they came up with any of their knives and White River just time test and they really took a lot of input from people who use the knives and I think unfortunately most manufacturers now don’t actually survey a good population across the people who are actually using the knife and allotted a lot of test on the reef in the white river have been un had use almost considered abused test and the knives of confluent flying colors. Dutch Bushcraft knives is pretty one of them and Joe X another that really really put knives through the piecesand they kind of give you an idea of what you can expect for what you’re paying but great job on the reviews thank you

Maybe cut Outdoors55 some slack about removing the coating. Yes, knife enthusiasts understand that the coating is a different HRC than the blade itself. However, there will be some percentage of viewers who are not knife enthusiasts per se but may be looking for information about a specific knife before or just after purchase. Finding a thorough test about a specific knife, or even about a specific knife steel or even a specific knife steel from/via a specific knife maker (such as 14c28n from Civivi with their heat treatment) is not only valuable information but it a typical gateway for new knife enthusiasts to get into all this. That's exactly how I started. I saw a knife I liked but it had a blade steel I didn't know anything about. Searching that led me to all this and to getting into this community. If information is excluded because "everybody already knows that, bro", it gatekeeps all of this and is hostile to newcomers.

New to your NO BS channel & I appreciate you for doing this under microscopic scrutiny. I was a Bradford fanboy and these results don’t surprise me. I have had issues with receiving bad grinding and tip edges and those hard to get spanner bits are horrendous to remove. As I do like to swap scales. For the most part customer service does engage the issue and takes care of it. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Sorry for your bad experience but you really put a spotlight on this quality control issue. BASED! 🫡💯👊🏼

It's good that you're making a video about this, that's for sure! Also, I have no idea how far the store is from where you live. But to protect myself, I didn't sharpen anything on the knife and returned the knives to where they came from and asked for my money back. But this kind of thing doesn't only happen at Medford. I speak from personal experience that this kind of thing also happens at Rick Hinderer Knives. I had purchased an XM-18 3.5", recurve in OD Green G10 online from Lamnia in Finland. After I received the knife it turned out that a facet edge on the top of the blade was not ground parallel. I returned the knife back to lamnia with the request not to resell the knife but to return the knife to Rick Hinderer Knives. They did not do so, they simply put the knife up for sale online again and resold it! I also sent Rick Hinderer Knives an e-mail and indicated that I had purchased a knife from them via Lamnia and that I had returned it to Lamnia because of the problem described above. Rick Hinderer Knives never responded to the situation. Lamnia should have returned the knife to Rick Hinderer Knives and Rick Hinderer should have contacted Lamnia to resolve the problem. Both Lamnia and Rick Hinderer Knives were at fault!

I was immediately impressed with my CJRB Knife Center exclusive pyrite in AR-RPM-9 blade steel and titanium bolsters with micarta scales. The AR RPM-9 blade steel has been excellent with high edge holding and good toughness and corrosion has not been an issue at all. However 2 subsequent knives in the same steel have not shown the same performance. Im still undecided on it.

AR-RPM9 steel is my favorite budget steel. I think of it like 14C with a little better edge retention. It sharpens super sharp and the burr is easily removed. Buy with confidence.

In theory, AR-RPM9 should be a reasonable EDC steel. Unfortunately, they burned some bridges between the hype leading up to its release, the reveal that it was just a "powder metallurgy" version of 9Cr18Mov, the lackluster cut-test results (including getting beat by regular 9Cr18Mov with a better heat treatment on Civivi and Sencut knives), and then the reveal that it wasn't even powder metallurgy (the "PM" in AR-RPM9). Had they just said that it was a spray-form version of 9Cr18Mov in the first place, I'd be a lot more forgiving. The idea of making a spray-form version of 9Cr18Mov isn't a bad one. From some other limited testing, it seems to be a little tougher than regular 9Cr18Mov and may be even more stainless. (9Cr18Mov is already very stainless.) Had they run it a bit harder or figured out a better heat treatment, that too would have helped... Overall, lots of people remain disappointed by the wasted opportunity. Let's hope that their new, correctly labeled spray-form steel, AR-SFII, is better.

Great video ! I have been carrying axis lock knives since the BM 940 was introduced .Have not broken an omega spring yet! I have most of the knives you have on the table and like my Spyderco Manix LW in Rex 45 as much as any in my collection. The Spydercos action took a bit to break in but was well worth the wait . And you are so right about The factory edge on the Spyderco , one of the best factory edges of all. I am surprised your video is lacking a blade by Hogue? The Ritter full size in M/C is surely one of the best axis lock EDC blades of all time IMO and my favorite when I want to carry a full size folder.

@CuttingBoardRx 6 сағат бұрын
@@Huey4214 The video was about knives that came out in 2024. My experience with omega springs has been positive except one of my 940 Osbornes had a poorly installed spring from the factory, which caused the blade to unlock on a spine whack. Once I reinstalled the spring correctly, the problem has gone away. I don’t buy all the complaining at the face value: only 3 out of 10 million springs are defective. Folks who have genuine BM with a broken spring should buy a lottery ticket Thanks for subscribing!

You got me thinkin, I never saw Warren Osborne either. I looked and found a video of a knife cutting competition and 3 people are supposed to be doing all these tests with the same knife and the 3rd cutter is Warren Osborne! They're testing another knife he designed for Benchmade, a fixed blade. It's only about 2:40 long and he pops up around 2:11 into the video!

I do like the new test, but I must admit, I prefer the Tree of Doom. Repeated impact and fast prying motion is more likely to reveal an issue than that the relatively sterile new test. May I recommend several of these tests be compressed into a sped up segment, with you stopping only when/if there is an issue? You could create a playlist with the raw footage to counter nay sayers, but honestly, most people have already decided whether or not to trust you after one video. Hope that helps, and Happy New Year!

A good review of a decent budget beater. I think you are way tougher on the knives you test than most average users will ever be . That said I still enjoy watching how they hold up to your tougher than reality testing methods. The Acacia that is in my pocket today has worked well for me so far and is a decent budget beater IMO. What amazes me the most is how high quality of a knife can be bought for $30.00 these days .And just how high of standards we expect these budget beaters stand up to.

I find AR-RPM9 underwhelming to be honest (and I have several knives in it). I much prefer other budget steels. I wasn't particularly attracted to this Acacia model, but I am glad you've shown us a design flaw that should make anyone interested in this model re-consider.

I think that for the 80% of the user knives, including me, RPM9 is more then enough for our daily use. Same for D2,CRMOV, 440C, etc. Have you ever seen a butcher using a knife made of Magnacut? They work all day with a very cheap chinese knife and they do their job very well. I always compare knives with cars. You can buy a Ferrari but a Toyota do the same job. All depends how much money do you want to spend. I love your videos. You test cheap and also expensive knives. What I see in your channel it is impossible to find in some other place.

There are many knife content creators using talking hands, using charismatic entertainment or sarcasm and plenty of chop chop cut videos. I like your more scientific approach to testing knives and maybe a benchmark based on 9cr or 440c would be great. Nothing like a blade on blade drop/compression test against the benchmark for fun but unfortunately edge geometry is too variable. Oh and one more thing please please please use a glove on your left hand when doing the horn cut test, your are a slip away from a bad cut and you will kick yourself afterwards.
