Great Choice of Tent. I love my Tipinova tent. I did the south west coastal path in it and plan to do it again this year.Love the space in it,and can even put my collapsable lightweight Chair in it and sit down. Great size vestibule ,if it’s raining to make a brew cook food with my jet boil stove. And when it hot, unzip the vestibule completely,as it has a large mesh screen entrance. I read others had leaking issues, so I seam sealed the whole tent,and sprayed waterproof protector all over it.Had no problems at all. I also pulled the fly out more at the pegging out points at the bottom of tent ,lifting it off the ground,added some para cord and pegged it out. This let more air into the vents at the bottom of tent. Also put a small branch to wedge the the two air vent flaps open more. This helped reduced condensation. Also another tip, get a cheap tennis ball, cut in half,and put half underneath the walking stick pole,and the other at the top of the sick pole, this stops the top of tent material from being worn through, and the bottom from sinking into the ground ,as well as stopping possible wearing through the tent material..To tell you the truth The condensation is not a problem in this tent, and I have suffered worse condensation in a £500 coffin’ tent,where one does touch the sides, as Hilleberg tent owners know too well. Love watching your adventures mate 👍

Thanks for the great tips. I look forward to trying it more this year. I’ve only been out in it a handful of times. Have you used a ridge line instead of trekking poles as I’d like to do that next time for even more room 👍😄

@@DayTripperAdventures Glad to be of help mate..Yes I have used a ridge line in the forest,which was even better. Also at same time using the guide lines attached to tree/branches to pull the tent sides up and out,again more room 👍. Another useful tip, the description of tent says use the centre pole between 120-130 mm. However, I got it at 135 mm which lifted the fly bottom flap up the ground,giving more room for ventilation. also, Make sure that you don’t push the whole of the ground pegs all the way down to the ground as this will pull the fly back down again. When you get in the tent and look all around the bottom sides you will then see clearly through the vents. Obviously if there is a gale wind blowing ,peg them securely right down to the ground again. Have you done any hiking ,long walk journeys in this tent yet ie Coast to Coast, south west coastal path etc ? Or any plans to ?

Again really helpful I’ll save all your comments ready for when I next go out. I bought the tent for long hikes then got distracted by also buying a Bivvy and tarp, so on Thames Path long section I used Bivvy and tarp instead. Actually weight is around the same. My Tipinova has been a little bit left out, so I’ll definitely use on one of my next camp.

Hi, Day Tripper, I enjoyed your videos on stealth camping, I was wondering are you doing anymore?

A nice little shelter Richard. Just trying to keep any moisture off your sleeping bag. As you know. I also have a lightweight sleeping mat. But even in the summer I noticed it was a little cool. I bet its strange being back in blighty? Thanks for sharing 👍. AtB.

Hi Grant - thanks - yeah I think some insulation matt underneath may help. It’s good to be back, exciting time of year and all the optimism that spring brings. Many new adventures ahead for us all 👍

Hi there….recently i have been catching up on some of your videos….and really enjoying your journey….entertaining and informative…- i like you thoroughly enjoy the outdoors…and the escapism from the the humdrum life we find ourselves in. I too work in the office based grind! Though now i have been fortunate to be permanently 2 days in office and three day working from home…..!!! I can at least thank Covid for changing my workplace working policy. Anyway…i really think i will invest in the tent you have shown here….thanks again from sunny Derbyshire! Cheers

How about a foil mat under the bed to help with the cold?
@DayTripperAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Good idea - I tried with a bivvie at the weekend. A car windscreen reflector, it worked 👍

Hi Ben - lots of plans - finishing Thames Path, South West Coast Path, West Highland Way and the Coast to Coast to name a few. Also lots of micro adventure ideas and challenges 👍

Brilliant choice I think Richard. I've heard of the brand but never considered it. I've just saved it in my Amazon account. I think it has potential. It's light enough with bags of room. As you say a ridgeline could offer more. Thanks for sharing. All the best with it. Mark

Hi Mark - yeah I think for the price and the light weight element - it’s worth checking it out. Other options seem at least twice the price with half the room 👍

A lot can be said for some headroom! Does the bug net cover the gaps at the bottom of the tent? I use a 3/4 length foam sleeping pad under my inflatable mattress, cheap, much warmer and the other third became a dew shield for a telescope. The issue you point out is the sleeping bag wicking up the moisture from the tent if it touches it is a serious detriment. Maybe spraying with waterproofing medium may help?
@DayTripperAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Hi Shaun - yes bug netting fills the vents. I’ll try foam matt underneath sounds like good option. Keeping bag off sides is the key, there is space but single layer tent this is always going to be a risk. Thanks so much for your helpful comments 👍

I'm only on my 4th tent in 35 years the other 3 have been the vango Helium and its predecessor. Now on the Tarptent notch li to get weight down now I'm old. Its a bit scary though due to the cost. 👍

If they work no reason to change Dave. Its horses for courses really and having something for different types of outing. a random thought I had was if people are so concerned about weight why not lose a couple of pounds around our waists..lol
