I've purchased three Palmetto premium phosphate BCG's over the last three months. One of them had no issues and head spaced fine. Two of them would not head space! I found that the ejector springs on the two that failed head spacing had the same overall length of ejector springs as my spare Colt and Windham's but that he coil spacing was way to tight (almost touching under no load) on the PSA's. This caused the springs to coil bind and not allow the ejector plunger to travel flush with the bolt face and allow head spacing on a "Go" gauge. I was able to cut off two coils on the ejector springs and got one of the failed BCG's to work. The other one's bolt was also out of specification and is now in the trash. I kept the carrier, firing pin, cam pin and extractor for spare parts. Palmetto posted this review so kudos for them for being completely honest! They have said to contact their customer service so I think things will turn out completely positive!

My Acme Machine BCG for my budget 308 build works great. It came with those one piece gas rings, I am not fond of them. I found that a set of 3 rings from DPMS work better with that BCG from Acme. I didn't headspace mine before shooting, cause when researching the Lr308 rifle build, didn't really read about headspacing. I have like 300-400 rds through it already without any issues. I was told that if it had a HS issue I would have know it. So would it still be a good idea to get a field guage to still check it. Thanks.

Funny thing about Orings, they are temperamental when it comes to oils and heat. They are made from oil. The Black one's are any way. The Orange are typically PU, and the Green are something else which escapes me at the moment(the chemical in toothpaste). Largely used in refrigeration. I used the enhanced spring kits from Brownells which use a heavier spring to reduce the slinging effect upon high velocity extraction. This has caused numerous "fail to extract" scenarios. And to think 3 years ago I wanted nothing to do with AR's. My HK91 was a nail driver at 100M. And I did it with the iron sights, off hand, with stiff crosswinds. 3 nails(#10 common) with 5 rounds. My witnesses screamed "You can't do that!!" Weren't you watching? :-) A life of precision doesn't end at the range.

I know this was a while ago but I tried this out one day at the range. I used a PSA NIB (Toolcraft) a Fail Zero NIB and a BCM BCG in my 16” AR with a Ballistic Advantage Hanson profile barrel I got 1.2 to 1.5 MOA with PSA and Fail Zero and .6 to .9 with BCM. So made a very slight difference in accuracy. I will say im not sure if it’s in my head but the gun does run better with BCM BCG

I appreciate my bottle of LGO. And to say a gas operated bolt can never match a standard bolt is a bit of an error. Premium barrel manufacturers recommend you get your bolt from them. They make sure that they are precision mated to work perfectly together. (X-Caliber, for one) Cost isn't an issue if precision is the goal. Like the addage: If you were in the bedroom of a beautiful woman ready for you, but you could only approach her at 1/2 the distance each minute, The mathematician would say " You would never get there!" "The engineer says "that's close enough!" How precise do you need? Environmental affects will override the greatest precision. It's up to the shooter to determine the variables to make the shot. A threat 1 mile away is as unlikely to hit you as you are "them" on first shot. No offense intended, but watching you shoot, after watching the LR sites, your technique is short of the barrel's accuracy. I like your channel. I like your presentation. Find out what butterfly kisses means. Your heart beat will ruin your shot.

There are roller cam pins that smooth the action. So they cut costs and allow you to select which you prefer. I chose to "round off" my cam pins to reduce wearing the hollow out in the upper. Nothing serious, just break the sharp edges so they don't cut into the softer aluminum. The cost of the roller cam pins and ambiguity of fitment swayed me away from them. For now. Any wear reducing aspect means longevity of the action and accuracy.

Man I built a cheap 6.5 Creedmoor but I did use a double ejector BCG from Arm Or Ally by Toolcraft with DLC coating()Diamond Like Coating). And I like it as good as any Ive used. It cost me $180.00 bucks I think. And 1 year later it still looks new and Ive shot 1,000's of rounds, The bolt & Scope Rings should be Lapped just as the Rifle barrel/stock bedded. Lucas Oil is good stuff in guns or cars. A gas gun will never out shoot a Bolt gun at long distances.Just as a Bolt Gun will never out shoot a Gas Gun in Rapid Fire. If it jams that Cosmetic Pretty BGC without Forward Assist grooves wont be any help.LOL I think the Dark bolt with Double ejectors is a better one trhan your new shiney single ejector bolt that cost more

IMO the fwd assist was designed for chambering when concealed in close quarters with your enemy. Not for forcing the round home, which is stupid. Think: You are in the bush hiding, and need to chamber a round while an enemy patrol is near. You slowly extract the charging lever and ease the round into the chamber, then push it into battery. Make sense?

I'm a gas gun fan. My REM 700 SPS TACTICAL 308 and my M5E1/ Wilson Super Sniper 20" 308 . There is a diffrence but not by much . The 700 is bone stock though . I can regularly shoot 1 MOA out to 300 yards with the M5 . The 700 is 1 MOA out to 400 yards or so. I prefer being able to put more rounds down range and keeping my head down on the gun . For Military application in a lot of SOCOM units are moving away for bolt rifles . Obviously they still have them especially for 300 Win Mags. I actually saw of a Guns And Ammo show . That couple units in SOCOM are using Seekins Precision 260 S.A.S.S. They chose the 260 over 308 or 6.5CM. Usually my rule of thumb with gas guns when it comes to C.S.A.S.S. or S.A.S.S.. I use a bolt made by the manufacturer of the barrel . So both my M5E1s have Aero BCG with Wilson Bolts . I've never seen if that made any real diffrence between Aero bolt and Wilson Bolt .

There is a KZbin channal called Project Farm, he did a long series on what was the best performing Motor Oil. One of the tests is a Friction Test were a roller bearing is rubbed by a steel wheel and the amount of wear is measured. The clear winner of that test and only that test was Bacon Grease, it beat out dozens of high priced synthetic and regular Motor Oils. Now I have not tried it as a Gun Lube but I did try it as a bullet lube (blended with wax) and it did pick up the velocity a tiny bit. Now I'm not saying to pour Bacon Grease in an AR but it is funny how things work out some times.

The bolt carrier can be any basic aftermarket crap. It’s the bolt itself and cam pin that need to be of decent quality. Coatings are unnecessary.

JP could’ve easily made it a fully supported bolt face and have had dual ejectors. I will stick to my LMT 308 BCG. I have been in the market for another rifle and thus doing a little research. JP makes beautiful products with no machining marks and tight tolerances but they lack innovation or more modern features.

I bought the JP full mass 308 bolt carrier group 18 months ago. Heavy bastard but not a single issue with it.

I'm building my "dream" AR-10 DMR.... 18" FLUTED Bartlein barrel, lapped Aero Precision receiver, Anarchy Outdoors precision grip (Emperor) , Magpul PRS Lite stock, and decided on the JP enterprises full mass bolt... I hope I made the right decision with the bolt- the internet seems to prefer the LMT or Lantac... but, I "drank the kool-aid " and went for the high dollar JP... even though I'll probably never use this rifle for anything other than punching paper, I just wanted to own one thing in my life that is the absolute best... I can't afford a rolex, I don't drive a fancy car, and I'm just an honest contractor doing a little real estate on the side. So with my DMR build, as I call it, I just wanted something that is 100% badass.

That’s crap, 300 bucks and no cam pin?? I’d call them up and complain. Hell that should be part of it. bet you they would make it right. Very nice video!

What it is, the difference between mass production and handmade very small batch production. Sure theres a different about 250 bucks worth. Yet they both do their intended purpose.

Is it just me, or does he say “Good ol’ boy 32” at the beginning of his videos? I apologize if I’m late to the joke.

I got to admit damn that JP BCG looks sweet. now explain the difference to me about a three sided m16 BCG vs a standard m16 mil-spec BCG and if it is a better set up and worth it to use a three sided BCG

Colts MilSpec BCGs is one BCG, not to worry about. Thousands of Rounds then scrub, wipe, and lube away..back in business again for another 1,000 rounds or so.
