My husband & I did 5 years of no spend days. We lived on one salary. We wanted to buy a cottage in France. We were able to do so on our 25th wedding anniversary. It was wonderful and we had 21 happy years there before my husband died. I still have all the wonderful memories.

Im self employed and Jan-March are VERY rough $$. I do plan for it throughout the year but for some reason it never gets easier to live through those 3 mos w very little income!

You are doing well during January and I'm glad you have selling on Vinted in mind for next month. Today is the 26th so I have had 16 no spend days this month. Two spend days were, an additional £5 for dog grooming as I had not saved quite enough and £70 two pairs of glasses as I lost one of my current pairs 😥 But no treats, books etc.

You are doing so well Nicola. And you are absolutely correct in the fact that we should aim to track our no soend days in the way that works for us. I will definitely have a few pounds left over from this montgs food budget. So I will transfer it into the Health and Fun sinking fund ( for a later date! ) As with most long term things, 'slow and steady wins the race' .

Your doing fine. Your house is for you and your family. Materialism is overrated. My cottage is tiny with a huge wood burning oven. We are never cold or hungry and the four dogs (2 spaniels and two huge Lurcher’s) cover the place in hair. We have rabbits and a tortoise too. The place can never be as clean and tidy as I’d like but I’m retired and in poor health. I’m happy, he is happy and the animals ruined. It’s your life….., make yours a happy home.

I have never noticed bills like heating and utilities listed. These are some of my largest bills in winter. Is there a reason you don't show those? Just curious.

I never show fixed bills; never have! Not sure why. These are just the things I have more control over ☺️
