Opinels are very light great slicers. I keep one in the kitchen and one in my lunch box for cutting tomatoes and sausage. The classic sd is so small yet sharp and handy, a manicure kit tool plus. I have given many as gifts and everyone keeps it on their key chain.

I have 3 of those knives, The Swiss Army, Sanrenmu and Opinel. I am extremely pleased with all of them. The new CRKT looks interesting. I wouldn't worry a lot about what "knife snobs" think. Most of us don't really care. BTW Sanrenmu has changed the model number from 710 to 7010 but it is the exact same knife. Keep up the good work!

A number of years ago I bought a Kershaw OSO Sweet for under $20 just because I liked the way it looked, and carried it every day for quite a long time. It quickly became a favorite. Nice size, comfortable in the hand, and the SpeedSafe opening system is great. Since then I've bought several more and given them to friends and family. My new favorite is another Kershaw, the Blur, with a partially serrated tanto blade. It also has the SpeedSafe system, nicely textured grip, and is as solid as a rock. Cost was $30 something. Love it!

I loved my cheapo Sanrenmu710 till I lost it at work, lol. Honestly, I'd rather buy a Chinese Company knife, or even tac-force before I even consider the bear grylls & gerber knives. Gerber's just let me down so many times, I won't even consider their knives nowadays. I do dig the Gerber Dime though.

Great video! My Opinel no. 8 Inox came with a factory second bevel and a flat grind rather than a convexed single bevel you mentioned for the Carbone. It's my edc and I get along just fine with it. My fixed blade (rat tail actually) is the Mora Companion. anything heavier gets a well honed Gansfor Bruks.

I have a Gerber 'Moment' 2 knife field dressing kit in my collection. I bought them because I wanted to find out why people were dissing Gerber (other than the Bear Grylls affiliation) so much. To my surprise, my $30 AUD kit comes in a good sheath and the handle compound reminds me of my old Buck Alpha folder with the guthook. The Gerber kit has a skinner with a guthook and a small boning out knife. Other than not so great edge retention, these are great tools.

Love my Sanrenmu 7010 I've been carrying for over three months every day. Great quality for a knife that is available for under $10. No one who knows anything about knives would ever mistake it for a Sebenza. It is not a carbon copy, and it doesn't pretend to be. It is, however, a very nice, easy to carry, deploy, and use inexpensive knife that looks and feels really good.

Great video, thanks ! To me, the best undder 10 even (well 10 euros) is the Opinel garden N8, it got a spear tip and a slimer grip than the regular and is a little cheaper, wich mean I'm not affraid to use it roughly, never really damaged it. (but I'm no expert)

I've also had an eye on an opinels. There's just something about them that catches my interests. I keep hearing nothing but positive feedback about it. Perhaps it's that classic look they have. The unique locking mechanism. Or just it's simplicity. I know the blade is super sharp. It just looks to be reliable, and is a different looking blade altogether. Stands out, yet doesn't look as menacing.

The steel is actually a Sandvik stainless most comparable to 440A.
@domenik83398 жыл бұрын
I've used both pretty extensively, personally I think Sandvik stainless is far superior to 440a. A lot easier to resharpen, and takes far more abuse before resharpening from my experience. I think it even matches up better than 8crMoV, which is supposed to be a premium stainless. Still prefer Sandvik over that. Just my opinion.

I think the Gerber uses 7cr 17mov which I think is close to 440a. 8cr 13mov is close to Aus8. I believe most Gerber Bear Grylls use that steel. The ultimate pro uses 9cr 19mov which is close to 440c.

In my experience and from what I know: 8crMov < 440a < Aus 8

Im not a Gerber fan however lately Gerber may be making a come back like the fastball I like that knife a lot I have the several types of victorinox and I I’m diggin the CRKT squid.the Pilar and now the Large Pilar. Sanranmu whatever it’s a budget knife and you want the have a good edc knife no problem. I under stand buying a clone with logos and trying to pass it off as real that’s bad I’m against that but if you want to buy a copy without logos and your using for your own use your own hard earned money especially if you can’t afford the more higher real quality it’s our money I will spend my money on what I want. But I’m will look for a great quality budget knife first. But I do have several copies cuz I buy high end too of knives of all kinds never any logos there’s no need for that if you do your up to no good I buy them cuz there super cheap and I don’t have access to the high end knives to feel them before I spend hundreds of dollars so I buy the copy to get a sense I know it’s not going to compare but at least I can get some kind of idea of how Shirogorov feels like I know it’s not going to be like the real thing anyway it hasn’t let me down ever and I’ve got a good hand full of grail and safe queens but I like to use all my knives. I liked you video brother. Sorry about the redonkulis clone versus copy comment I said it cuz you had a nice sanranmu and it doesn’t look like a CR that much it’s a good budget knife. I just picked up a Ruike p801sf love carry every day for a month now. $20 peace ✌️ man

I'm usually broke, but I know good/decent quality bargain folder's when I see them. I get what I can afford. I had an interests in a Gerber product folder. That one you have is probably what I will but later on. I can't stand spyderco knives. Their unbelievably expensive, and very thin blades. Most have the same plastic handle. And that stupid trademark circle hole. It's so overrated. I just don't like them. But my ignorance dies show since I've never handled them for that matter. Still, the best knife is something you can afford. That will be of good quality and usage. Spyderco's are just too overrated for my own taste even if I could afford them. I'd much rather go with some sort of cold steel, or kabar. I love inexpensive folders that come with surprisingly good quality. It's such a good feeling knowing you didn't need to spend much to get the most out of you're blade. Well... almost most. A little resharpening if it becomes dull, or replacement of equal pricing if need be. Most collectors never use their pricey folders anyway. They always have a beater. So screw it, mine as well have a bunch of beaters.
