If you can't afford a new PC right now, get a used GTX 1080 (but check if your power supply can handle it and that there is enough space in the case). With a bit of luck, you can score one for around 100€ or your local equivalent on ebay. It's still a very capable card, able to run almost every game and those that do run (which is 99% of titles out there) are running well. The main downside is that it can't really do hardware ray-tracing all that well, but since you won't be running any of those games anyway (or that one game, since I believe the new Indiana Jones, which requires at least an RTX 2060, is the only game right now that does not have software ray-tracing or conventional lighting as a fallback) with the rest of your hardware, you'll be fine. To put the performance of the old 1080 into perspective, it can (without RT, of course) run Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p/60 or 1440p/30 (high settings for both, IIRC). That's a damn good value for 100 bucks. And yes, I'm using Cyberpunk as a benchmark, because it's essentially the Crysis of our time. That said, I upgraded from this card to an RTX 2080 for 200€. Just one generation, but the differences are massive. Suddenly, there's actual ray-tracing capability (beyond running offline rendering and Quake 2 RTX at 320p) and, even more importantly, DLSS support, also known as upscaling that doesn't suck and is actually so good you'll just enable it with every game that supports it. Same amount of VRAM (8GB), which is getting a little tight, but still fine almost all the time. No game actually needs more to function right now, but there's a handful of games (probably fewer than ten) that will lock off the highest texture settings. Keep in mind that this card only makes sense if you have a reasonably good CPU already. Otherwise, it'll be throttled by your old processor. Since a 1050 Ti is a budget card, you most likely paired it with a budget CPU back then, so unless you have eight good cores that won't lose against a Pentium 4 (looking at you, AMD FX), don't get anything more potent than a GTX 1080.

The problem with the low end market these days is that it's stagnant and even if they do release some lower end LP single slot card that can do some gaming, it won't make them enough to recoup the costs most likely. Especially not for the hopeful price of 100€, sadly those days have passed. Nvidia should/could have launched a card with this low power GPU and these higher clocks over the A400, branding it RTX 3030 (Ampere is 30xx), adding DLSS support (and disabled Quadro features, since these are part of the Quadro "value"), and retailers could easily have charged $100-120 for it. I believe it could have sold as hot cakes. Especially for the easy SSF office PC upgrade possibility.

Love It. got a handicappede friend, that swear by his old flat dell desktop cabinet. I have looked for something like this for ages, powerful and Low form factor, so it can go into his cabinet. Good job on the yell out to Nvidia and Amd to get the Low formfactor cards to Europa.

This card unironically works better than my 3060. I'm genuinely impressed. Also, you should probably add Warframe in the list considering how many effects and particles it shows. I've watched you since 2019. You were like 10k-ish subs at the time. I'm proud you grew this big and better. Thank you for the vids!

This is fascinating, i wanted a small RTX single slot card for an HTPC that allows for RTX upscaling on videos, which works pretty good from what I've tried, the majority of low profile RTX cards here in the U.S are double slot.. I might just have to jump on this when I make another SFF PC for home theater use that I can fit in a tight space. NICE!

Could you please provide us with a link to the seller?🙏🙏 I would actually like to purchase this card. Low power consumption with quite an impressive level of perfomance for 120$ is really great, especially for a single slot card

I'd take a wild guess and say DLSS was deliberately disabled in the driver to prevent the card from being used for Bitcoin mining rigs? Still, put this card in a small form factor with an entry level i5 or Ryzen 5 and you have yourself a decent SteamOS box.
@itsuadmanАй бұрын
im confused, does dlss help bitcoin mining?
@Stoney3KАй бұрын
@@itsuadman Doesn't that use the same shader/raytracing pathways?
@PaulTheFox1988Ай бұрын
@@itsuadman I think the tensor cores that are used for dlss are well suited for crypto-currency mining, so disabling or nerfing them hampers the mining of crypto-currency, but a side effect is the loss of dlss. How this all works and what the advantage of tensor cores is vs cuda cores is both very complicated and well outside my ability to fully grasp, but the tensor cores seem to be highly advanced floating point units (can natively work with numbers with a decimal point) that work on matrices at a very high rate of perf, the example I saw when looking them up was of 4 x 4 fp16 or fp32 calculations (gen 1 tensor cores) which is not a trivial task, and this capability might be beneficial to mining
@itsuadmanАй бұрын
Oh, I didn't even consider what was meant. I simply thought about dlss itself, not what dlss uses for its performance. The tensor cores being useful makes much more sense
@Silentguy_Ай бұрын
I don’t even know why anyone would bother trying to mine with a card this low power anyways since GPU mining is basically dead now.

I had a good experience on Ali Express. K610m nvidia GPU for an old 2011 iMac. Got Metal support on a paperweight. Guy included heatsink and instructions for maintaining it as its heatsink was modded. Bit random but the seller tried so hard to communicate with a language barrier. Nothing on this card but did allow me to run newer macOS properly and PS2 and GC emulation was working 100% speed.
