Budgie Updated Cage Tour and Organisation

A few people have asked me to show more of Merlin, so here he is! He doesn't keep very still for me to film him but hope you enjoy!

You connect with your budgie so well, shes a bit spoiled :D One tip for the right diet for your budgie is not just to feed them grit, seed, and any other packaged bird food, you need to feed your budgie fresh produce like lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, and some fruits like, apples (no core), or strawberries. Just dont feed him pits or seeds that come inside a fruit. And stay away from avocados, they are poisonous to most budgies...

You don't need grit and is usually already included in most standard budgie seed mixes and not needed to add more. What ever you do don't add sand, it tear up the inner of their crop and cause impacted crop. Doves and pigeons do not remove the hulls from seeds, so they require grit. Pet birds, on the other hand, are generally fed pelleted diets or seeds which are easily hulled and digested without the need for grit. It is far better to provide a mineral block which I see you have and a cuttlefish bone and a balanced diet (not a seed only diet)

If you look a your birds cere (it's just above the beak where the bird's nostrils are), you see that it's brownish or tanish. That is suppose to indicate that your bird is a female. If the bird's cere was blue, it would indicate that the bird is a male. Your bird is gorgeous by the way.

Grit is not necessary for budgies because they "whole" their seeds which means that they spit out the shell of the seed. Grit is very bad for budgies, it can actually tear the insides of your bird! I'm only trying to help, I am not hating.

ummm your budgie is a girl not a boy boys have purple blue ceres the cere is the thing above her beak which is brown so that means shes a girl girls have brown ceres and boys have blue ceres
