This is why I'm hoping for an alternative league that can actually compete with the NFL. Spring football is coming up with the USFL trying to get off the ground this coming year, and the XFL's restart is coming the year after. USFL's combine is next month (January) and the XFL's is in June. - The AAF collapsed in 2019 because Tom Dundon can't negotiate worth his life and he axed the league because he didn't get his way with the NFLPA. Some even speculate that he was only interested in the gambling software that was being developed for the league. - The XFL last year was simply a victim of circumstance because of China unleashing the 'rona. They legitimately could've had a successful season.

@Mm-zt3zx3 жыл бұрын
Matthew Frankino the refs blew that play dead way to early (hit on diggs). It may have been a dirty hit but there was nothing there that hit was any harder than any other. Also only one ref blew their whistle. Diggs is a very talented player, he an break out if that tackle, was the tackle a bit aggressive, yes especially the last part where he threw him down. That is a very contested call when it comes to refs. The earlier call for tackling Jones out of bounds, the defenseman still put his hands on a player out of bounds, pushed him a bit before pulling him to the ground. If he was to hit the bench it was because he was pushed not because he was running to fast. Even if he was brought down to be safe he was already safe when he was going out.

Roughing the passer, I'm starting to believe, is mostly used to protect the leagues better qbs. Like Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes... these types. Because I've seen ridiculous Roughing the passer calls on these qbs. Then you look at lower tiers qbs in this video that should have got an easy call, nobody sees it all of a sudden. If you gonna call ridiculous penalties, just make it consistent at least. This is exactly why I quit watching NBA, players like LeBron get a whistle every time they drive to the basket, it's just not consistent. I don't bet on sports anymore because of this reason.
@joshuahitchins18973 жыл бұрын
It seems like it's not to protect them, but help keep their drives alive.
@Mm-zt3zx3 жыл бұрын
I think the best explained reason for this is because the refs feel more pressure to give calles to better players because if they don’t there will be more backlash at them for not giving those calls but when a ref is officiating player with less skill , if that player was thrown to the ground as the play ended then the refs may feel less pressure to give them the calls and make better decisions. The reason why ref would get more backlash is because fans will refuse to believe they could do wrong or make a mistake.
@imperator71363 жыл бұрын
Exactly why I quit watching the NBA, the idea that star players should gets calls their way just because they're stars is asinine to me. I have no idea what roughing the passer is anymore. The NFL is rigged and anyone who bets on a game is taking a chance they are betting against the Refs.
@hogziller3 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong in that game.... it was the same defense both ways..... but only one QB is complaining about it every time ..... losing focus and letting it impact him. Maybe he should have been telling his WR's to start pushing off a little to create space since the ref's were not calling anything during play really but Mayfield has a million dollar arm but a 10 cent head. One QB remained calm cool and collected (Rodgers) and the other one let it get to him.. Plus the Browns would have won if they just kept running the ball to the outside since they were getting like 20 yards every carry.

You know refball is bad when you don't have to look back to 2009 anymore to see such a jobbing by the officials.
@AdderTude3 жыл бұрын
At this point, it's not a huge stretch to say that the officials are playing refball because they made bets on the game. Therefore, a lot of bad calls or missed calls is because they're trying to influence the outcome of the game so they get a payout.

Well, it doesn't have to be a wrong call. Just how you see a lot of those taunting calls in these videos. They are probably enforced correctly as it says in the rule, but the rule is shit. Or a call is perceived as bad, because the angles that are shown are bad or there is no replay at all and in live it looked differently.
@hogziller3 жыл бұрын
as for 2:40 .... I to this day do not know why they don't give the back judge a buzzer or some kind of signaling device they can hold in their had that goes off the very second the play clock goes to "00", then they can focus 100% on the ball in relation to the buzz in their hand. I was suggesting that back in 2000. It would be like the NBA relying on the ref seeing the play clock instead of the shot clock buzzer.
