Saw all 40 of these magnificent animals, with the huge wagon and Ed Sparrow at the reins, in Marshalltown, Iowa. That's where I lived, and the home farm where these animals were kept was just north of Marshalltown. That was in 1973 or so, and when that huge train of animals went by at a trot the ground shook. I have been in love with them ever since. Don't know where they are based now, but the 40 horse hitch, I think, is long gone.

Back in either 2000 or 2001 I was working overnight security at the Colorado State Fair Grounds. I got the privilege to watch the Fort Collins hitch from 6pm to 6am for 7 nights. Cant remember all the horses names, but the Dalmatian was named Gus. He wanted to play fetch all night with a racquet ball. It was a really cool detail to work.

The Clydesdales are responsible for my life-long love of horses. As a child in 1963 my father's job moved us from Massachusetts to St. Louis. We actually lived just down the road from Grant's Farm where the horses were based. Dad would walk with us to see the horses through a wood lot that backed up to the pastures. One of the guys saw us a lot. After several times he got permission to let us touch the horses. I got to comb one's leg featherings. It got to the point we were allowed in the barns if we were quiet and behaved ourselves. To this day I remember those horses as I watched my pasture princesses craving and running in my pastures. Magnificent beasts like no others! As I said my experience with these horses was in 1963-64. I imagine things are really different now due to safety rules.

That day each horse had one person responsible for taking care of it. There was no flies, no gnats, and nothing on the floors. I mean they and their surroundings was cleaner than most people's homes! Saw them again at the Worlds Fair in Knoxville and the same was true. Simply amazing beautiful animals and caretakers.😍

Darlene Hoover leave it to the self centered, “anything I want I must have” millennials to reject the teachings of tradition. Someday they’ll learn.
@BlueRidgeMtns1004 жыл бұрын
@@kstewskis I don't think folks 20-30 years old make decisions for Budweiser and younger people are not rejecting the horses, they are rejecting Budweiser beer. Budweiser has been losing market share for many, many years and I expect the ads are being tailored in an attempt to appeal to younger people in hopes it will entice them to drink Budweiser. I don't believe it will work. Many bars and restaurants no longer stock Budweiser because it is so rarely ordered by customers. Craft beers are ruling the market. The Clydesdales are the best thing Budweiser has because the beer certainly cannot compete with other beers.
