Everything that I was about to write was suddenly erased when I heard 'Silencio'. Such a tender and touching song. This interpretation sings directly to your heart. Endearing. Wow. I met this band in a coffee shop in México called 'Café Son, Son de Café'. El son cubano. It's cadence and rhythm makes everyone think of our own grandmothers, and the romantic self in everyone of us. Great selection and video. I was really touched.

Javier Armas Gracias, Javier! I'm happy that you liked! :) "Silencio" is also one of my favorites from this double album, although i must say that all songs are beautiful. Actually, i was having a hard time in choosing the songs for this video, because usually i don't like to include more than two, maybe three songs per video. This time my indecision led me choose four songs, and the video became a bit longer than i would like to, with almost 20 minutes.

What a Big Surprise!! I didn't ever expect to find this Cuban Band in an European channel, :O All that songs are part our musical history in the Spanish Caribbean!, Great Quality recording!! Those people are part of the most influential cuban musicians!, "world music", is only a generic name for give a label(I began to hate labels too) The real name is Cuban Trova, Danzón, Guaracha, Cuban Bolero and Son ( no relation with filho) Rui you hit a Home Run! Baseball is the most popular sport in Cuba, Dominican Republic and, obviously, USA Your video is awesome, great edition, nice use of images from the film, GREAT VIDEO!!! Best Regards!!

Comicdominicano Thank you Raul, i was curious about your input on this music! ;) Well Mr. Caribbean guy, not all european people like to listen to Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and all that crap that sounds exactly the same to me!! There are some people around here who have some serious good taste, did you know? LOL! Good music will always be good music, despite the labels, and despite being commercial or not. For me, good music has an inherent characteristic: IT'S TIMELESS! Quality will always survive the trends! The Buena Vista guys sang those old wonderful songs, and some of those songs were written in the 1920s and 1930s, but they are good songs, written with love and poetry. Of course, the merit also goes to the Buena Vista old-timers who sang those tunes with lots of passion, proud and enthusiasm, and that shows up in the performances! Hmmm... check your youtube inbox, please.

***** Thanks Francisco! I always liked this "old-timers" and their music since i saw the Wim Wenders film many years ago. I remember buying the original Buena Vista CD only after seeing the movie. I read somewhere that today there are lots of "old people" singing this type of music in Cuba, trying to eat a "slice of the cake" too i guess, but the authenticity and spontaneity aren't there.

***** Pfft... Of course you went to the store, where would you go to get the movie? WHERE?? ;)) You will see part of the recording sessions of the original "Buena Vista Social Club" album, but i think part of the movie is a fake documentary, because the original sessions took place in 1996, and i think the movie was shot mostly in 1998. But anyway, i like the movie because it captures very effectively the ambience, the mood, and the authenticity of the performances. By the way, i also have the vinyl version of the original album, but the sound is a bit disappointing compared with the CD, but i also have a 45 rpm single version of the "chan chan" song, and this one sounds wonderful!

I just went to their adios concert in Korea. It was amazing as my dream finally came true - watch live performance of BVSC, but at the same time I was sad knew that it was probably my last time seeing them as well. Thanks for the great video :)
