Malini! you were a bit sloppy and superficial with this one. If you could mention Evita, you should have had the moral conviction to identify one strong black woman named La madre d'argentina! celebrated every November. But you brushed it all under the carpet to keep it light-hearted. I can understand that, but sometimes your outer beauty should match your moral conviction to raise awareness about very serious issues. You have the power and platform to make a difference!!

@@thinkerz8tipitina784Lol, no. With all due respect, she doesn't have to cater to your personal sociopolitical whims and wishes. If you want to make a travel vlog/doc about Buenos Aires or Argentina that focuses on black identity in the city/country more centrally, do it. Malini doesn't have to delve into those aspects further if she doesn't want to, doesn't feel comfortable to, or simply doesn't care enough to do so. And moreover she shouldn't be guilt tripped by folk like yourself for the content of her videos. She doesn't have 'inner beauty' because she doesn't do a deep-dive about black history in Argentina? Madness. Let's just be grateful that we get such fantastic content here on YT for completely FREE, and leave the moral finger-wagging out of it, yeah? Peace.

"THE MOTHER OF ARGENTINA" '????? Celebrated in November ???? a black woman??? What are you talking about ??? For better or worse, Argentina had little African immigration, because in colonial times, the Viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata, a Spanish colonial organization prior to the country's independence, was really poor, unlike the Viceroyalty of Peru or the Viceroyalty of New Spain, present-day Mexico, there were no tobacco or coffee plantations, nor silver mines or other precious metals. The few blacks who inhabited the territory were domestic staff, or helped with field tasks. This is noticeable in the current population in which only 0.4% of the total are of African descent, and of that percentage 8% are born outside the country. There are no racial conflicts in Argentina, nor a racist feeling, regarding any ethnicity or religion, however, it is not necessary for you to invent fictions like that of the supposed "(black) Mother of Argentina." What is certain is that the "Patron Saint of Argentina" is the Virgin of Lujan, an image of the Virgin Mary carved in Brazil, with a black complexion, whose first custodian in the "Villa del Lujan", the place where is now the Basilica of Lujan, the most important church in the country, was a slave known as "el negrito Manuel." Before providing false information, it would be better if you were properly informed.

Ok ..an Argentinean and Porteño here. With the utmost respect. Saying that "to be an Argentinean" is defined by wondering a few blocks in the downtown area of Buenos Aires is like saying that a Florida inhabitant defines what an American is. This country offers so much more that you couldn't possible imagine, my advice is for you to rent a car or better..rent a panel van and drive across the country and you will find out the native roots of our country. The gauchos, the natives before them, the immense Pampas, the mountains, the falls, the deserts, the jungles.. I do hope you enjoyed our country and our people

As an American-Argentinian I have to say you described Argentina perfectly, in one word repeated in this video a couple of times, Nostalgia. I travelled, not much, but enough. I left the country, and came back. And as I fly over Buenos Aires, I always cry. It’s an addiction, it’s a type of love hard to understand, it’s the Italian feel, with the French Architecture, it’s everything Europe is and isn’t. It what you hate but need. It’s nostalgic, because no matter how much time you spend away you will always say “don’t cry for me Argentina, the truth is I never left you.” Thanks for the video.

Always when the plane descends over the Rio de la Plata and I see the first little houses of the suburbs of Buenos Aires a little tear wells up in the corner of my eyes. Nostalgia. (I'm afraid you just convinced me to go back😄) Un abrazo.

1st gen American-Argentine here! 👋🏽 I have always heard stories about my family back in Argentina and the history. It’s such a beautiful place and people. My grandfather left Argentina in the 60s to find work and better hope for his kids and family he found it in america…I wish to go back, I wish the economy becomes something that people can build with. A Argentine friend of mine always said the best line for the country “Esa pieza está algo suelta, pero la podemos atar con alambre - That piece is a bit loose, but we can tie it with wire.” They find ways to live even in hardship.

My grandmother moved to Argentina in the early 1920s from Serbia. My mother was born in Buenos Aires in 1933 and emigrated to the US in 1946. They got to see Argentina in its glory days. Everything was in abundance. My mother went to an English primary school. Her father worked for Standard Oil and did a lot of work near Salta where they lived for a time. I had hoped to have her visit her home country before she passed but was unable to. I think she would've been depressed how the country appears today.

Hello there, you can still visit Argentina any time you want and, hopefully, get hooked by tango! (by the way, they have a great tango scene in many of the big cities in the US). Yes, Argentina has been in permanent mess since its glory days, but for us tourists it means a few euros or dollars go a veeeeeeeeery looooooong way, as the exchange rate is so good for us. If you plan it right, and depending on how many vacation days you can take (if you're American then maybe you barely get anything, over here in Europe we're blessed with excellent work-life balance) you could visit not only Buenos Aires, but also the super spectacular Iguazu Falls in the border with Brazil and Paraguay, the impressive glaciers in Patagonia and their Welsh villages and the whales' sanctuaries, and the superb vineyards in Mendoza and the Native (Amerindian) parts of Northwestern Argentina.

Interesting video! Some old private houses were converted into apartments by assigning one room for each family. Each bedroom was turned into an apartment. These buildings are called conventillos (not cometillos).

I’m impressed. This is a really good video that captures the culture very well. I’m surprised that you went into those neighborhoods that are often left out.
