Crocodile VS Baboon
A baboon is fighting for its life in the jaws of a crocodile in this video. I must say, the baboon's strength is incredible, especially considering the crocodile's tremendous jaw pressure. The poor baboon escapes, but the primate appears to be in excruciating pain, with one of its arms broken in half and just hanging, with no hospitals nearby, the primate’s days may be counted. A huge troop of baboons were drinking from a waterhole when a juvenile crocodile snatched a young male baboon in its teeth and pulled it away from the bank, attempting to drown it. Because the waterhole was shallow and baboons were powerful, the baboon used his strength to keep his head above water. After 20 minutes, the crocodile needed to come up for air.
When this occurred, the baboon pulled the crocodile to shore, where it was promptly assaulted by all the other baboons who could get their hands and jaws on the reptile. The crocodile evaluated the odds and let the baboon go. If the baboons had flipped the crocodile over, they would have ripped him to pieces. When a wildlife enthusiast arrived on sight, he saw many baboons on the dry riverbank of the Tsavo River. He saw that there was a baboon in a puddle of water and thought the baboon was taking a bath, so he decided to record this unique sighting. Hence, he began recording and after a few seconds, quickly realized how strange it was for the baboons to be extremely stressed, just because their buddy was bathing.
They began to scream like crazy when he tried to get out of the water because a crocodile was holding onto him. When he decided to move to try to escape, the croc kept pulling him back into the water to try and drown him. The baboon was lucky that the water level was low, so he could at least breathe and avoid being drowned, but in the predicament that he was in, I'm not sure which was worse. Being drowned or being eaten, by the reptile. Hundreds of baboons were cheering their friend on, but it would have been nice to see them help him, instead. After several tries, the brave baboon finally managed to escape and rejoined the troop. His face had some visible scratches and contusions, but nothing a good plastic surgeon couldn’t fix.
Crocodile Kills Gazelle
A crocodile tried twice to snatch an impala while it was drinking and missed, but the third time he was successful. It is truly an unbelievable experience for the photograph guest onboard and for the guide because this is something most visitors to Kruger Park don't usually get to see. Once the crocodile got hold of the impala it was all over. The poor animal did not stand a chance to get out of the reptile’s grip around its leg. Antelopes need to drink to survive and every time they do, they risk their lives. Watch what happens when this antelope drinks from a waterhole. A crocodile shoots out of the water and makes minced meat out of the animal.
The little antelope was so frail and tiny, to begin with, so it was a cakewalk for the crocodile to grab and eat it. A cautious antelope slowly dips its head to drink from a seemingly still pond, only to be surprised by a ravenous crocodile, and consequently gobbled up in seconds. I could have never imagined that such a huge crocodile could fit in such a small waterhole without being detected, but it was the case. Drinking at a waterhole for gazelles is always a matter of life and death because they never know when a crocodile such as the one in this video will shoot out of the water to attack. Lucky for this gazelle, it was fast enough to avoid certain death.
