Good to see a garment tried on a real person rather than on models or relying on size charts. :) My Buffalo was the original green mountain shirt. I bought it 30 + years ago when I was doing mountain rescue. It was all I wore as insulation on the Everest trek one November. It's been up Ben Nevis twice in the winter and all over Snowdonia in all weathers. I've been swimming in it (gorge walking), worn it down to the pub and used it to stop me freezing in my workshop. It's battered & stitched (ice axe) and I was out in it for a walk today. Still the best single bit of outdoor kit I've ever bought. I would buy another one but I suspect I will wear out before my old one does.

I see some many people wearing a base layer under their Buffalo shirt - that's a waste of time and ruins how the system is designed to work. They then complain the shirt isn't warm enough!!! Here's what Buffalo clearly say - "What should I wear under my Buffalo Shirt? Ideally, nothing. A base layer will trap perspiration and the resulting dampness will reduce your body temperature and make you feel cold. In extreme conditions this could lead to hypothermia." Simples innit! I some takes stash a T-shirt in my pack, just in case I call into a pub/cafe which has a roaring fire / stove and I don't fancy sweating away in my short or flashing my torso after I've pulled the shirt off!! Keep the faith - NO BASE LAYER FFS!!!

How cold would it have to be to fully commit though? Wouldn’t you quickly overheat walking uphill?

@@GoodFoShizzle The Buffalo shirt has vertical zips from waist to arm pits. These are two-way zips so you can either lower the upper zip to create ventilation. Or alternatively, raise the lower zip to allow the front and back of the shirt to separate up to the arms, and this allows max ventilation. These shirts really are only for winter use, but yes, walking up hill at pace, on a milder winter's day you can potentially overheat. If you're unabashed, you could go the topless, bare chest route :) , but on the few occasions that has happened to me I slip the Buffalo shirt off and throw on the t-shirt. Soon as the top is reached, or the temperature falls again, on comes the Buffalo - vented as necessary. Great thing is, with a properly fitted Buffalo shirt you'll not get wet, even though they're not 'waterproof' in the standard meaning of the term. Only real issue is that you've got to be active for them to work properly. Stop moving, say to take a 15 min break, and you will cool . That's where the Buffalo belay jacket comes in handy. Great real world sizing vid. I am the same size and have a 42 and a 44, both fit and depending on activity and skin only more active or base layer for extra warmth and loafing about I wear either accordingly. Also got a 44 belay full zip for extra later if stood around and really cold. A hood is essential in my eyes makes a huge difference when it’s howling. Just got a 44 windshirt for when it starts to get warmer just to keep the wind out. Awesome gear 👌🏼😊

Great video Great bit of kit,personally i wear a wicking tee shirt underneath, get to hot can take the outer off. Also wear a belay over the top of other when freezing cold,don't need anything else. 42 mountain shirt ,44 belay if cold over the top. Belay is always with me 9 months of year.

Please do one for ladies size too adding the lower hem circumference. Womens chest is usually smaller than bum circumference.

It won't fit him properly and look odd, so I suggest that a different model is used, preferably female. ( ͡° ͜ ͡°) I'm a 36" bust, but I have a feeling that the 38" would be a more comfy fit. There isn't much info on the fitting of the women's sizes. I'm tempted towards going larger with the 38" to feel less constricted; then again, since I'm planning on wearing it directly next to the skin, I'm worried about it being too baggy. Update edit: Although I'm a 36" bust, I'm rather lean, so went with the 34 when worn in the correct manner (close fit directly next to the skin). The 36 is far too baggy on me, even trying it over a base layer. If I were not so scrawny, the 36 would fit me better but still be a comfortable loose fit. A 38 would be massive. In any case, wearing it directly next to the skin, as recommended by Buffalo, with nothing underneath, other than a bra, really keeps you much dryer and therefore warmer than with a base layer. I actually bought a 36 as well and wear it over the 34 when resting for a brew on the hills. Toasty warm! xx

I'm 6"4 and have a special 6. The length of the arms are a little short. I also own an alpine jacket, the arm lengths are longer and fit me perfectly. If you do struggle with sizing, you can order direct from Buffalo and get a s6 with arms and body longer.
