Robert Livingston is going to be a great DC, this is a splash hire, I'll tell u why, last year Kelly defense was a 4 2 5, the Bengals defense last year was a 425, if that secondary can shut down those crossing plays, that would put the defense to play 8 in the box, for those big 12 team that like running the ball, their is no running back in college that can be affective against a defense that plays 8 players in the box. Go buff.

The fact that u would call it a "splash hire" and spread a false Narrative is really sad and highlights deons fragile ego.....the fans cover for him. Yes of any of the analysts that talk about the Buffs this is where I come to get a fair take as well I enjoy the fun aspect of content creators reporting on the Buffs etc, but Brian and Adam have always maintained a little bit of objectivity when it comes to the Buffs, long before this era, and perhaps because of their professions it's allowed them to stay slightly aloof but engaged with the process It makes it easier to believe what they are saying when they give analysis, because they aren't fanboying every single video It's ok to fanboy but also fair criticism questioning and the like lends credibility because it's not completely biased towards or against Good job as always fellas

If everyone limited their hires to people who have already served in that position, then no one would ever move up and there would be far worse recycling of the same old people. It would be even a more closed profession, aka Good Old Boys. Aren't we tired of that by now? How many excellent or good DCs are willing to make a lateral move? Probably none. So then, CP would be left with hiring a less than average DC who is probably on the hot seat. That type of hire would not serve CU well. I'd rather he hire someone who has excelled at another level. Livingston has participated in the rebuild of the Bengals, including Super Bowl experience. HE HAS NFL DEFENSIVE COACHING EXPERIENCE ON A SUPER BOWL TEAM. He can handle the spotlight. I am sure he can handle CU - has everyone forgotten CU's past? Stay humble.

His youth, Brian will only help the guys relate to him or vice versa. And as Adam mentioned, the long time deciple of Lou Anarumo is a huge upside and reason to take a chance too. Plus his strength is secondary etc and if they truly bring the "Athletic Specialist" takes care of the line in Warren Sapp here in March as reported by DNVR and Sapp the other day. To him he's here in March and stamp it. That makes the first time hire not worry me or lack of experience because he has a lot of experience doing neatly everything in Cincinnati which should only tell you that they see this guy doing not just his own job well but ANY job that we give him. Brian mentioned it too. There's tons of support in all those guys to keep this thing much more than some "learning experience". But to only have to REALLY have to worry aboit the safety and stuff and let Sapp do his job and absorb gelp on calling a defense IF he truly needs a ton of help there. It would seem silly to take a huge high profile job now if you didn't think you could call a game and/or make changes or figure out ways to stop teans or make in game adjustments to handle like last year the slant issue. Not being able to stop that. I do not see that happening with Livingston do you? I just think it's a SOLID hire. I heard their first guy fell thru if the one they wanted was the ravens guy that left to coach the DC at Miami. So if that happens you know Prime would have backups that he's not worried about. And so I just do not have the kind of hesitancy or worrisome feelings because his ability to stop the pass and rank top 5 or top ten ik Defense at the highest level while being young and relatable so he can tell these guys what the NFL wants them to do on Saturday to make it on Sundays so I see him putting together a simple but effective and pro driven defense that will take advantage of the Defensive additions made already but getting more during this period or in the spring only helps but if I'm being honest it's about depth for me not looking for linebacker starters in spring or from now til then. Just adding more depth of guys that are probably grad transfers or guys with years under their belt for now. But leading to what I'm hearing now, he will build with high-school kids but he's going to build with the xfer portal a lot more than other schools until the school becomes even cooler of a school and Denver/Boulder as a destination and stiff where these guys want to come because it's so hyped. Might be this year because the new uniforms and the possibility of the natty with 12 teans and a LOT of guys that are saying that CU has a chance to be in that 12 and not just a small chance. They think they have actual championship aspirations and guys with experience say it's absolutely doable with the moves they've made and how they did it and that they did fhe things other coaches thought there was no way they could do. Like rebuild an o-line in one off-season or revud thru the portal and he not only did that but got huge weapons like Will Sheppard from Vanderbilt a WR that is going to be a DAWG along with J. Wester who has a chance to be wr#1 not just a Dawg. Hard to pass Travis but wester is him. And the RN room got healthy, bigger and better with Dylan edwards putting on lots of weight in the form of muscle and is a 2 sport track athlete now he's increased his speed apparently quite a bit which is scary because I hears Cam'ron Mikel is the fastest on any field this year so we hot speed especially with Dre'lon Miller. Getting the guys we got on in the trenches already just makes me feel like they ain't gunna let their QB sit on the grass and not a single one goes to help him up or first off protects him from getting hit or going down to begin with. They seem tight and it's not even spring yet. Both sides. Amd they are working together. Great seeing Tyler Brown ready to play finally ($#@% the NCAA) still can't believe they also took a year of eligibility from him as well ad a year to play while others with the same issue but lesser problems got to play. I feel he'd pumped to make his name felt this year and do what he loves doing. Moving a 300lb man to where he don't wanna go without his opinion on it. Lol. We were missing guys that wanted to move guys so we could use Dylan or Hank or whoever and had a running game. Now we got like Alton McCaskill II running behind a former teammate and the rest of these guys. So this Defense Coordinator seems perfect for me. Especially if it's the next best because their #1 fell thru. I still feel it's a great hire. We'll see a lot with well off media and reach the people who get to show us how he does it and how the team seems to absorb his teaching. I hope it keeps the vibes where they are this early because the guys even thru a few fights hsve come together because it's all about iron sharpening iron and eachother wanting eachother to be better so they can dominate this year. #SkoBuffs

Zimmerman stung Prime along for 2 years. Now he takes a job in the NFL. I knew the vaguness around his position was fire behind A LOT of smoke. But Prime still trusts Zim to hire this guy. On top of that, Prime sang the praises of Chip Kelly. Unless Ken Norton Jr. is getting the head coaching job, Prime was shut out of this hire too. Really pissed that this is the guy. No offense to him, but the coaching - not the players - cost CU games this year. They should have made a bowl game. Kelly could not stop crosses or slants or whatever the opposing defense was doing well all year - and he was a veteran coach. I lost my voice yelling at the screen seeing the same plays called over and over against him. now, you have a guy who NEVER managed an entire side of the ball, never was in charge of the full complement of duties that come with that position and now has to manage a game and butt heads with warren Sapp everyday? I do not feel good about this at all. I don't know what happened to the Prime that was at JSU. The cohesion, the decisiveness the certainty. Nothing he is doing, coaching wise, resembles the guy I followed from the high school team to JSU. I want it to work 20000%. But you are asking a lot to put faith in someone that has never acted in this capacity in life. We'll see.

Here is the issue. You can't hire an experienced DC without giving them the freedom to pick their own staff. No one is addressing this. It's hard to bring in the best and limit what they can do to build their own staff. What should have been done is tell the future DC who is off limits and give that future DC the freedom outside of the "off limits" staffer to build from.

Let’s call it what it is nobody is excited about this hire . There’s no way prime was sitting on the couch telling incoming defensive transfers , hey dawg we got Robert Livingston coming as dc . Who primed initially wanted didn’t work out and he scrambled and Mike Zimmer hit him up and put in a word . If imma recruit coming in or a guy that joined via portal definitely not pumped about it that is why he was hired as the portal closed so it traps the kids in with him until after spring ball . If guys on the defensive end hit the portal at an alarming rate after spring ball , it’s going to tell you what they actually think about the hire . I’ve never seen a group of individuals try to convince ppl this hire is so great . 3 years as a scout 6 as a secondary coach never ran a defense no college experience. If he was so great wouldn’t have took him 9 years to get promoted after learning from these super geniuses.
