Yashin was the blue print for goalkeepers that followed. Legendary keepers in my opinion in no particular order would be Yashin, Zoff, Kahn, P Schmeichel and Buffon. The thing with Buffon is that he has done it time and time again over such a long period he just seems to have played forever! Growing up I was always impressed by Kahn and in my opinion he dragged an underperforming Germany to a World Cup final they shouldn't have been at. Neuer will most likely have a long and successful career but he will need to do a lot more to become a legend and I am a fan of his ability and I would say that he is the best in the world and has been for the last few years. That doesn't make him better than Buffon at the height of his career nor does it make him better than for example Casillas but every player has their time at their best and I believe that Neuer's is still to come.

I have been following football for thirty years, and I played it at a lower level, I must admit that I have never seen a goalkeeper as good as G.Buffon, he was not only fast and explosive, he was intuitive, he had continuity, concentration, timing of exit, a security, a charisma, which led him to be the best in the world for so many years, and I repeat once again as far as I am concerned I have never seen a goalkeeper as good as Gigi, the only one who approached it was Schmeichel, there were other very strong ones, but for me not as good as Gigi!

All great saves, but Buffon's save from Inzaghi is easily the best, both in terms of difficult/skill and importance; I mean, it was in the Champions League final on top of being an incredible stop from inside the six yard box aganst one of the most clinical strikers of his generation! It doesn't get much better than that, and Inzaghi's reaction says it all! It's a shame that he didn't win the title against Milan despite stopping two penalties in the shootout and keeping a clean sheet.
