We don't see Angel's immaturity in Buffy Season 1/2 because of how young Buffy is; she makes Angel look older when in fact he is late teenager 17-19 trapped by living forever.

Spike had been there every time Buffy needed him (to protect dawn when she was dead, to protect Joyce against glory,) he did that without having a soul, season 7 at Buffy most vulnerable moment after her sister, friends, faith all turned down on her (some could argue they were right), Spike gave the speech of the series in "touched" (no spoiler) and bring her back. Buffy loves Angel (his 1st love) but The Vampire Slayer loves Spike, Angel never could handle that part of Buffy, that´s why he ran away, Buffy is a woman but she is also the "one", "the slayer" Spike was the only one who could really understand it.

I think why I have always believed Buffy loved Angel in a way she never loved or would love anyone else is because she says so in the season 7 episode “Selfless”, “I killed Angel!! Do you even remember that?! I would have given up everything I had to be with... I loved him more than I will ever love anything in this life! And I put a sword through his heart because I had to.” And even when Spike “dies” and she says she loves him....he knows it’s not the way he wants her to, it’s not like how she loved Angel and it was never going to be like that.

Yes Buffy had only loved Angel more than anyone, as mentioned in “Selfless” But the writers of the final episode did state that Buffy actually end up falling in love with Spike at the very end when they held hands and the fire was created due to their souls connecting. Spike’s “No you don’t. But thanks for saying it.” Is actually a parallel jab in Dead Things when Spike said “I love you”. And Buffy replied “No you don’t”. “No you don’t” also interprets as I don’t deserve your love, but thanks for saying it. This is a parallel from Buffy’s denial of Spike’s love, stating that she didn’t deserve it from “Conversations with Dead People”. Anyway long story short, Buffy finally fell in love with Spike but the tragedy is that it was too late.

@@tashahere3380 Yeah I’ve heard that argument before and I’m sorry, I don’t buy it. If Buffy loved Spike, it was not to the degree that she loved Angel. Why once she found out he was alive did she not go after him? Or he actually go after her? It’s because they both knew it wasn’t meant to be and I genuinely think when Spike “died” Buffy loved and lost him immediately. Versus with Angel, time and time again they argue and make up and always yearn for one another. In the last season of Angel we see how upset Buffy is by Angel’s involvement with Wolfram and Hart when Andrew tells him Buffy no longer trusts him. There’s absolutely no mention of Spike. Sarah Michelle Gellar was supposed to guest star on the last season of Angel where she confronts him about all of that and again, they make up. SMG had scheduling conflicts so she couldn’t do it but that was the gist and focus of the episode; nothing about spike. So I see what you’re saying like Buffy loved Spike in the end. But was it to the level she loved Angel? The intensity? How they’re always at the backs of each other’s minds? How when they meet those passions come up again? I don’t think so.

Angel was her first real love, ((not the common BF/Gf relationship))and it doesn’t matter how much time passes for Buffy or what guy she hooks up with, Angel will always remain in her heart the way no one else will. Just as Buffy will always remain in his. They always have each other’s back when it is the right thing to do. I truly believe that after the ending of their shows, Buffy ends up with him at some point. Then as the prophecy of Angel was foretold back in the finale episode season 1, Angel is rewarded for all he has done in the world, becomes human. I’m sorry but that was such a joke, that literally made absolutely no damn sense whatsoever. In all honesty I really think the producer Josh threw that in just to mix things up, and just to rattle everyone’s brains a little because he obviously knew that it was a no go, he knew it wouldn’t happen, especially considering how much Angel still was in love with Buffy. But regardless of what so many A&C shippers wanted, Angel couldn’t be a relationship with anyone, well at least being truly happy and in love, that is due to his forever curse. Anyway Angel’s love for Cordial was more on a family/friendship level, as to where Angel’s love for Buffy was real true love, straight up attraction and unconditional love ❤️ Angel obviously proved that the moment he became human and was rid of that pesky curse, he ran right to Buffy, his one and only true love!! I'm reading through the comments and a lot of people think that Angel was acting different in this scene as compared to his own series. But here's the thing Angel and Spike have had a 100 plus year long rivalry with each other. So Angel acting jealous over Spike actually is in character for him. Plus, you can still love someone dearly and not necessarily be in love with them. And I don't know if anyone here has watched ATS season five but there was an episode called the girl in question in which both Angel and Spike go to Italy because they heard that's where Buffy was. And the entire episode all Spike and Angel do is argue with each other about Buffy. So, it's clear that Angel still has some feelings for Buffy even if he was in love with Cordelia. And if the comics are to be taken into consideration then Angel is still in love with Buffy even through the whole twilight arch and beyond.

Every time Angel camios in Buffy I feel like the buffy writers act like nothing happens to him. They just pop him in there awkwardly and completely ignore everything happening in Angel. Compared with all the buffy characters camios' in Angel. The one with Oz had him giving him the ring saying that buffy wanted him to have it, and Spike informing Angel about Buffy and Parker. The Faith and Buffy ones in season 1 completely related back to buffy. Then the phone calls with Willow both in season one and 2( letting Angel fans know that Willow was gay) and Willow coming to tell them about buffy after she died. Also when Willow came to reinsoul Angel, she told Wes ab what she did. On the other hand...when Angel appears in Sunnydale bc of Doyle's vision, it seems like the forget about him being in it till the last second and quickly shoehorn him into a few scenes. When comes to comfort buffy after her mother's death they completely act like the crazy rollercoaster ride that he had just finished (season 2, going dark and all that) hadn't even happened. When he showed up in the Buffy finale they made him all cheerful and act like he was fine, whereas on Angel he was depressed and had undergone a lot of pain and loss. Instead he's all "I started the soul thing". Grrr. Sure would he be slightly pissed off? Yes. But what with everything he had just been through I doubt he would have paid that much attention to Spike and being petty. I mean he had just sold his soul to Wolfram and Heart for goodness sake. He lost Conner, Corddy, he friends no longer share his burden bc they forgot everything and instead of helping ppl, he will be working for the place that does the exact opposite

In all fairness, Spike was only meant to be a temporary character so of course the show was going to stick with the original: Buffy and Angel. Angel curse gave him a natural advantage with Buffy (over others she’s been with) because she met Angel before Angelus. So not only did she get a good first impression of him, but she never saw him as a temporary enemy. Therefore she was able to love him quicker. Ppl can ship what they want, but at the end of the day, Angel had natural advantages. Also not too long after this clip, Buffy told Spike that the necklace “belongs to a champion” and those were Angels words. She gave Spike the necklace . Very interesting. Plus Buffy and Angel has more time together since the beginning

Ok, so the thing with Bangel is that ... They were each other first real love. And they let it consume them and it had bad consequences and like all first love do, it didn't work out. They started growing differently, appart from each other. And while I do think that Angel will always be important for Buffy (because I believe that every meaningful relationships leave a mark that you can't erase on you and becomes a part of you) and vice versa, I don't think they're as much "in love" as they were in the first few seasons. Both has matured and grew up (especially Buffy, she learned how to love while keeping her identity, unless how she was in highschool) and I feel like how they ended up with other peoples each feels right. Cordelia and Angel are a really adorable couple and Spike and Buffy support each others in a way Bangel could never. Honnestly, I feel good about this ! I don't really understand why so many peoples must insist that Buffy only ever loved Angel and will do so for the rest of her life, like ... That's not how it works, you know ? You can fall in love several times in your life and each relationship you forge is different and means something to you !

you're right! in the first three seasons Buffy and Angel are cute together and represent the story of a first love well, but after that their lives are completely separate. Buffy grows up and has a deep and real relationship with Spike based on mutual trust. Buffy and Spike have it all, physical attraction, friendship and understanding .... it's adult love...in comics too Buffy has a beautiful and healthy relationship with Spike, not with Angel, whom she now loves as a dear friend

Angel is basically stuck as a high school senior due to his soul being forced on him. Hence why his relationship with Cordy works. Cordy is a not very mature. Spike had humanity as a soulless vampire 'The Judge' said so. Spike also wrote poems as human. Spike earned his soul because he matured. Spike says of Angel that he made him a monster. Spike wasn't naturally evil as a vampire. Angel had no humanity as a vampire. When Angel was human he was just very selfish. Buffy and Spike both can mature in a way Angel never can. That does not mean that Buffy does not love Angel she always will do but her relationship with Spike can grow in away her relatiionship with Angel never can.

I mean I'm not expecting Angel to forget his feelings for Buffy (that will never happen) as they'll always love one another. But I'd have expected Angels character to be past getting jealous or schoolboy, especially as they're not dating anymore. Scenes like this, just kind of make me think, how stuck Angel is. And how it downplays his own individual growth and development.

A Buffy reboot has already been confirmed with a new actress and characters at comic con 2018, I think. So, you can watch so many supernatural shows like Angel, supernatural, legacies, the Vampire diaries, true blood, the secret circle, charmed (1998) and charmed (2018). You'll love it!

Okay, so as sweet as this scene is and as much as jealous!Angel makes me laugh, it bothers me quite a bit that there was no discussion of the fact that they had BOTH grown and developed very, very meaningful feelings for other people in the time they had been apart from each other! I have no problem believing the sparks would always reignite as soon as Buffy and Angel saw each other again - from the beginning, that they would have always chosen each other if they could was well established - but that could still be the case WHILE they acknowledged how real Buffy's feelings for Spike and Angel's feelings for Cordelia were. At least, because the conversation was about Spike, Buffy did get to clarify that, regardless of the exact nature or label on their relationship, he was someone she cared very deeply about and who was in her heart. The fact that Cordy never came up at all - that the people who only watched Buffy and not Angel would have thought Angel was just forever pining over Buffy and would have no clue about how beautiful and meaningful Angel and Cordy's relationship had become - feels so disrespectful. In general, there was just SO SO much trauma and loss that Angel was working through by this point in the timeline of the Buffyverse, and it bothers me that absolutely none of it would be known to anyone who had only watched Buffy. But especially given how this conversation was so romance-focused, it's just like... really, writers? We're flat out going to pretend Angel hadn't very much fallen in love with Cordy, who was also his dearest friend who knew him better than anyone and was in a coma after having been possessed for months? We're going to pretend none of that would have an impact on his interactions with Buffy? That the only thing on his mind would be jealousy over Spike?

Yes we're going to pretend cause we don't care. Cordy and Angel has never ever been liked by the fans , the writers knew it so thanks to them for not ruining this moment with cordy. Even when Angel lost his soul with cordy he said Buffy's NAME

Ugh it pains me to admit this, but as a first time viewer, I remember all these fans saying Spike and Buffy would happen at some point. And I remember when I saw Angel and Buffy on screen, I was like, there is absolutely no way I will ship Buffy with anyone else. As a viewer, I felt the type of love between Angel and Buffy. It was beautiful to watch and felt so real. But then, seeing Buffy go through adulting, and then Spike, opening her up, them actually getting to know each other's stories, and accepting each other for what they are, him being there for her with or without a soul, you can just see that the love with Angel and Buffy was more like puppy love and lust. They didn't even know each other that well. They didn't get deep the way Spike and Buffy did. And Spike went through hell and back every single time to be there for her. He really KNEW her. The writers made it this way, and the chemistry between the two actors made it even better. Here I am now, and I still feel torn cause I love Angel and Buffy but... Spike and Buffy felt more real, intense, deep, complicated. And that speech Spike gave her in season 7? come on now.

This really doesn't make sense if it follows on from Season 4 of Angel. Angel was still in love with Cordelia, and just erased his son from his life, and started working with his enemies.

Don't get me wrong, I actually think it tracks just fine that after all that massive loss and trauma, and then seeing Buffy again, there would be a comfort and temptation for him to fall back into his feelings for Buffy again, and pretty much same for Buffy. So I'm not mad that they would see each other and end up kissing. But what I dislike is how it's ONLY played as Angel being jealous about Spike, with no acknowledgment in any way of everything he'd been through on his end, and no acknowledgement of how much Cordelia meant to him. I think they could have easily played the comedic "instantly jealous" beat - because yeah, it's funny and sweet in its own way - and then also take the time for even a subtle acknowledgment of how much they had both grown; of the fact that there would always be those sparks between them, but that they had also developed deep, meaningful, beautiful relationships with other people in their lives and that's also wonderful and healthy. I get that it was probably the intention to simplify things and not bring in too much of Angel's story to Buffy, but when you watch both of them in tandem, it just feels like a slap in the face to the depth of Angel's growth and his relationship with Cordy.

I always thought it would be funny if Angel found Spike instead and smelled Buffy all over him but fans will know it'll probably have a violent ending or Buffy will pop up and stop them from trying to kill each other. I honestly don't think Angel should be questioning her about Spike, I mean by this time Angel was already in love with Cordelia and I doubt he told Buffy. I understand Angel & Buffy will always be in each others hearts but I think Cordelia & Angel are the ultimate couple on Angel (though they never were a couple) and Spike & Buffy were the ultimate couple on Buffy the vampire Slayer (though she waited until it was too late to tell him she loves him. I know she meant it though). I was never a Buffy & Angel fan because Angel seemed too boring for Buffy, Buffy needed a Spike. Cordelia is hilarious and that kinda made me forget how boring Angel was. I love both shows Angel and Buffy but Angel 7.9/10 is no Buffy the vampire Slayer 10.0

Angel and Cordelia relationship, before Cordelia turned evil, was a better match of a relationship for Angel. Their relationship foundations was stronger, and Cordelia's character developed into one that could stand on her own in a group of demon slayers.

Since you want to be all 12 years old about it, Bangel shippers got to see the real Buffy and Angel have one final beautiful kiss in the finale and the look of happiness on Buffy’s face when she saw him. All Spuffy got was snuggles and round about talking that went nowhere because in the end she tells Angel a future with him is still a possibility. I preferred Bangel send off than what y’all got a season of nothing basically. Hahahaha
