Small children will love Buffy. Great for a petting area. Just snacks and grooming. Our Mare was a giant 16 hands race/jumper horse was awesome. Quincy the Thoroughbred.

For first time having a saddle on her back she was so good. A huge problem though is that saddle is okay for a pony but not a miniature horse. A jockey pad would be ideal. Keep working with her Jake you really made progress.

That’s so great of you to work with Buffy to give her some training time like the other horses so she feels included. I know you only put that saddle on to see what she would do and knew it wasn’t the “perfect” saddle. People freak out over the silliest things 🙄😂

Good job doing ground work with Buffy. That will really help her. That saddle isn't for a pony. She needs a smaller pony saddle that isn't so long. Keep up the good work teaching her ground manners. You are picking up how to work with the horses quickly.

This will maybe help some! 50 years ago, when I had a high strung horse riding barrels, the trainer friend at the stables told my mom about the almost exact saddle I saw you using on one of your videos! It's the one with the suede seat, and the suede comes down some on the sides, too! If you use that saddle with the suede seat with suede chaps, the two work together to help keep you in the saddle! The two working together probably saved me from flying into the stands once when running barrels! My horse darted the complete opposite way, going into the turn on the first barrel once! He almost hit the arena fence, and I still came up out of the saddle, probably a good foot, but at least I didn't go flying into people's laps in the stands! 😂 If it happens to be the same saddle, which it almost looks identical to the one I'm talking about! It's probably really light weight, too! That would probably be a better saddle for Buffy until you can get something to fit her a little bit better! I would definitely shorten the stirrups for lunging her with it, because with her tiny legs you wouldn't want her hoof to get caught in a stirrup! To be even safer I would just take the stirrups off the saddle for lunging her! Once she got use to the saddle you could always put the stirrups back on if you wanted to start training her for a child to ride! You should always use a blanket or it can rub a soar spot on them and then you have to wait for that to heal before using a saddle again! Plus, the blanket will help keep the saddle in place and help it fit more securely! Horses and ponies like to blow their stomachs out when they know you are going to tighten the cinch! So, maybe after tightening it walk them a step or two and try tightening it a little more or at least check it, or get on ride a little bit, then get off and check the cinch! They use to tell you to lightly knee the horse on the sides to make them release that air they are holding, but that's a little extreme for these days! 😂 Walking or riding them a few steps then checking the cinch should work too! 😂 You should definitely get some suede chaps and I highly recommend a suede saddle seat to go with them! That's something you should consider when looking for a saddle! Because, the suede working with the suede really, really helps keep you in the saddle when the unexpected happens! We all know that can happen at anytime with a horse no matter how good of a rider you are! I just know I was very thankful for someone teaching me that when I first started riding, because it definitely saved me once for sure! You are doing a fantastic job and should be really proud of yourself! I'm enjoying watching! 👏🏻 Now you and Lyssa just need to go horse shopping or rescuing! 👏🏻🫶🤣🐴 XXX's XXX's XXX's XXX's

Well your dad's animals are wild so it doesn't surprise me that she doesn't want to do what you say. You are not a horse trainer Jake so I'm concerned that you actually think that someone is going to ride Buffy. Hopefully you are just trying to make her listen better. You aren't going to be there much longer so all of this may be a waste of time. Buffy enjoys the attention as does Willow. Willow really loves you Jake and maybe you can talk Kim into taking Willow with you when you go.
