Oh and I heard on a commentary for Season 5 that they wanted a stunt team to do more street fighting so they got a whole new stunt team...I was like "When have you ever seen a person do an illusion in a street fight???" Jeff's choreo was more realistic, there was boxing combo's and even some ground work. Every episode from Season 5 on I kept hoping the fights would improve....they didn't.

Whatever Jeff and Sophia were paid was woefully insubstantial and inadequate compared to what they SHOULD HAVE been paid, as both poured THEIR ALL, and then some, into this popular show. Sophia made Sarah Michele Gellar look GREAT, stunningly gifted, talented and beautiful as she is (Sophia). What brilliantly choreographed stunts and action, pulled off to ABSOLUTE PERFECTION by Sophia. AWESOME!!

Im a fan of scary hair raising scenes. Jeff you did a great job with their movements. You definitely empowered the gentlemen as not all gentlemen are inviting. GREAT WORK!!

I like different things in these scenes! Sophia very fast, making techniques in a slightly different (the reaction time), but very realistic, making the scenes more believable and Sarah by making herself beautiful round house kicks (beautifully captured by the camera). Missed the part where Sophia kicks the Devil, with a round house from the ground in the cemetery!

All Hail Jeff! He created the gear which made the "Gentlemen" float, and didn't get a word of credit for it in the DVD commentary (for which I kind of yell at my TV a bit : ))

Fights sucked after Jeff and Sophia left. I remember clear as day I was so excited to see some new fights and I saw saw Buffy fight a vampire in the graveyard and I saw a kick and I was like 0,o "hmm..that didn't have any power." then I saw her fight Dracula it was like 1 punch here 1 punch there..and I knew..Sophia was gone ;(

Im pretty sure that when Buffy is fighting the gentleman at 0:48, there is a shot of Sarah doing one of the kicks to the head in the final edited episode. Joss Whedon even said it in the commentary of the episode, so i think Sarah maybe did a few moves. This is also the same for the Graduation fight at the end with faith, Sarah throws a kick or two, you actually see her throwing them.

Good eye! What I did on those two episodes (The fight in HUSH and the fight with Faith in GRADUATION) was to stand Sarah in one spot and have her swing her leg up to look as close to a round kick as I could get her to do. Then we edited the shot into Sophia's actual fight scenes. This is something we can do with any actress or model. They don't need martial arts skills. (btw- Don't pay much attention to those DVD commentary things. I've yet to hear one that was accurate as to how things were really made. Like most TV interviews - it's mainly just PR hype.)

***** Thanks for replying :) So the shots with Sarah throwing kicks, she is kicking as close and as fast as she can but not making contact, to show as if it were actually Sarah fighting. Then a split second later edit in Sophia finishing the kick but not see her face then carry on the fight. When i realized years ago that Sarah wasn't actually "Buffy" fighting i was disappointed but now greatly appreciate the sheer awesomeness of Sophia in the fight scenes :)

All of the actors did a great job with what was asked of them. Sophia was under exclusive contract then and not allowed to work on any other show as the producers were afraid she'd get injured and not be able to be Buffy. In acting scenes with the other actors it was often Sophia when you didn't see Sarah's face. Remember when Buffy "kicked the bucket" when she first slept with Angel? That was actually Sophia too. Sarah was often studying her lines for the next scene and reading the scripts for the next episode during these moments. It was pretty fast-paced work during these times and impossible for Sarah to be everywhere.

***** That's pretty cool :) All the little details that go into the show and us fans just see the finished episode but may no fully appreciate all the time and effort you, Sophia and the whole cast and crew put into it :) Do you have a particular favourite fight scene from season 1-4? Or classic fight scenes that you and Sophia spent the most time on? Any Technically difficult scenes? Thanks again for the reply :)

Jeff Pruitt was it also Sophia in "Bad Girls" when Buffy and faith finished fighting faith had some lines but the camera was facing Buffy's back you could see a little of Sophia's face just standing there listening

I agree with you...The Gift fight scene was amateur. The only thing they had more of was more gymnastics. But Buffy's new double's Michele Waitman and Melissa Barker had more of a gymnastics background. Melissa was okay in martial arts..but michele oh lordy! How could they go from Sophia Crawford speed and power to that?

can't agree. with Jeff and Sophia, the fights scenes seemed raw and had so much intensity, which made them very believable. after they left, in season 5 in particular, the fights felt too choreographed and show-ey, some even amaturish...

I think in this clip he only lifted and threw that guy in the end but there was a cable helping him. The Spike that did that round kick thing just before that doesn't seem to be James Marsters
