I love this song. I love the album - I bought it when new though, tragically, my baby sister sold my album collection - and a few of my other siblings collections - to buy beer. What a beautiful, soulful song! Years ago, I found this song hidden at the end of an old tape. It was a poor recording off a scratchy college radio show, and I never knew the name. I finally went thru her discography to see if I could match up the name. Thanks for posting this. It's now on my ipod!

Thank you so much for posting this great song. My older brother brought her albums home from college. I never bought a copy for myself. If you have time to post some others, I'd love to hear "Many a Mile" and "Los Pescadores" and "Broke Down Girl" and, of course, "Until It's Time for You to Go" (there's a live video from 1991 of this last one on KZbin, but I think she sang it better in 1965).

Love this song. This album inexplicably apparently has never made it onto CD so it's so great you have made it available. Could you possibly post "Fixin to Die" from the same album? That's probably my favorite on the entire album and it seems you haven't included it?

Oops. "Until It's Time for You to Go" is on KZbin from a 2-album collection. It sounds the way I remember it from "Many a Mile."

This song is indebted both to the song "The Water is Wide" and to the poem by Padraic Colum that begins "Must I go bound and you go free?" But Buffy makes this borrowed material her own--in fact, except for the first line, the rest of her lyrics and the overall mood have little in common with the defiant words and tone of Colum's poem.

@pollychromatic Thanks, but that's a reissue on the Arkarma label which is virtually a bootleg label out of Italy. Most of their "reissues" are simply vinyl transfers sometimes with bonus material. It's definitely not a quality reissue and Vanguard should be able to track down some variety of master to re-release it properly. Fingers crossed...
