Buffy had dealt with human villains before this but they were obviously evil from the beginning (like the Hyena keeper). This was a different kind of evil one that's not so black and white

I remember.. when i was a child, when i saw this scene and said To myself "so life will be that hard... ?" Years after, as a teen "mmmh.. looks like it's gonna be like that" , as grown/adult women "it's totally true.. let's face it" That's why i love Buffy and it will always be my favorite serie. Through ages, there are different readings. Thank You Buffy for your lessons you helped me and will continue

Apologies if this has already been addressed, but I still can’t fathom why the then soulless fiend that was Spike kept up his end of the bargain by siring Ford, he hated him on sight if I remember correctly? Was it just to torment Buffy perhaps?
@arthuralexandermatveychuk974 Жыл бұрын
Does the music remind you of The Fifth Element's OST?
@speabody Жыл бұрын
Tons of Buffy and Giles comments and none about how Spike actually kept up his end of the bargain. He had no reason to, especially after "I've known you for two minutes and I can't stand you, I really don't fancy you living forever." The fade out at the end of previous scene was ambiguous and I'm always mildly surprised Ford is a vampire. Spike's alignment is chaotic evil so it would have been completely in character to renege.
@arthuralexandermatveychuk974 Жыл бұрын
Well, Ford did keep his end of the bargain. It was Spike's fault they got stuck. And yes, he didn't have any reasons to sire him, but he probably did it to torment Buffy by turning her friend into a vampire.
@jorydwilliams-negron59 Жыл бұрын
@@arthuralexandermatveychuk974I completely agree with you if Spike turned Ford into a vampire it was because of something that benefited him as well as Ford. During Spike's evil Arc. He hated Buffy because Buffy was the strongest Slayer that he's ever crossed paths with. Spike knew his relationship to Buffy, that they were friends and potentially more than that. He knew that it would hurt Buffy in the end that she would have to put a stake in the heart of her own friend.
@jorydwilliams-negron59 Жыл бұрын
My theory is Spike turned Ford into a vampire to hurt Buffy, or he could have just been honoring his word because Ford honored his, or maybe Spike had respect for Ford even though Ford was human because Ford was very intelligent and Ford was had guts going up to Spike to make a deal.

While I honestly love this part of the episode I've found that I can't get over how quick she was to kill ford and can't help but wonder were this determination is when Angelis is let loose. I mean i understand that they are two different people in two different circumstances but it just bugs me.
@Cassandra7655 жыл бұрын
Ford wasn't the love of her life. Angel was. It makes sense that it would be harder to kill him.
@AllisonRhine4 жыл бұрын
I think the point of killing Ford so dismissively was because he'd sacrificed his humanity for this one thing. But for all his evil planning, he didn't even get any time to enjoy it. I think the lesson there is that if you're willing to become a monster to get something, it can be causally taken away from you. Then you are left with less than nothing.
@trickq58833 жыл бұрын
Ford was dead. Buffy explained to him that he would die and a demon would take his body. The demon would have his memories and personality but it wouldn't be him. Even after she explained this to him he was still okay with it becoming a vampire. It was easy for Buffy to kill him because she knew how becoming a vampire works and that it wasn't really him.
@ihh6193 жыл бұрын
I thought it was off for Buffy to kill him fast and then continue the conversation with Giles as if nothing happened. Almost comedic.
@biogerontology76462 жыл бұрын
@@trickq5883 The issue there is that becoming a vampire doesn't mean you're dead in the buffyverse. Angel had his soul restored and reverted back to himself prior to becoming a vampire (personality wise). I think Buffy killing Ford so quickly and ruthlessly is a bit strange. When I saw this episode as a kid it also bugged me. I felt pity for Ford and it may have been a option to just tie him up and have it arranged for his soul to be returned to him.
