The original Bug-In held in Southern California started in 1968, and it played a key role in the development of California’s VW culture. Bug-In was where Cal Look, VW drag racing, Dune Buggies and many other aspects of the scene started, before spreading around the World. Today’s events provide drag races, a car show, a giant swap meet and vendor displays. Since 2018, Bug-In has been scheduled in June, in conjunction with other Volkswagen events and as part of the So Cal VW week.
Starting with Bug-In 32, this legendary meet took place at the Auto Club Dragway in Fontana. However, the venue remained closed during the pandemic and, sadly, it was recently announced the track would permanently shut its doors. As a result, the Bug-In promoters, Periscope Enterprises, moved their happening to Irwindale Dragstrip - now the official home of the Bug-In.
RACING CLASSES
PP - Powder Puff​
Sponsored by Rancho Performance, this is a bracket class for the ladies. Open to any air cooled Volkswagen, winners receive a cash purse and trophies.
OT - Outlaw Turbo​
This is a Heads up unlimited racing class sponsored by CB Performance. This is the fastest class in Triple Crown. Winners receive a cash purse and trophies.
SS - Super Stock​
This is a Heads up all motor racing class sponsored by Jay Cee. Rules and weights apply to participate. Winners receive a cash purse at each event as well as trophies.
PE - Pro Eliminator​
Sponsored by TOA, this is a qualified bracket for cars running 9.0 or faster. Cash purse is held until the end of the year and awarded to the series champion. Trophies are awarded at each event.
RS - Real Street​
This is a Heads up "Street Car" racing class sponsored by Chico Performance. All cars must run 91 pump gas and participate in a 20 mile drive before the event. Winners receive a cash purse and trophies.
TC - Trophy Class​
This is a Trophy Bracket class open to any Air Cooled or Water Cooled Volkswagen. There is no Cash payout for this class, but the winner and runner-up will receive trophies.
Volkswagen Drag Racing is alive and well in Southern California. Our Triple Crown Drag Racing series is a 3-race series held on the 1/8th mile track at the Irwindale Raceway. We have five classes that participate in the series and one trophy class for those just looking to go out and run for a time slip. Whether you're looking to get serious and compete for a season or just want to take your VW down the strip to see what it can do, we have something for everyone. Join us at the Hot VWs Drag Day every March and October or in June for the BUG-IN!

that white vw is my favorite car i will like to know the name of the driver and what type of engine it has . beautifull car & fast too, thank you i will like to see that against other 4 cilinder small cars.
