I’m so glad other people and guides don’t hate on pegged beads if it’s done right!!

When done correctly, it’s hard to argue that it isn’t the most ethical way to fish an egg imitation. Really appreciate you watching and commenting! Hope you found some valuable tips!

Excellent video! Thank you for emphasizing the importance of leaving spawning fish alone!

Thank you for the comment! One of the most important responsibilities of an angler fishing during the spawn is knowing how to recognize spawning areas. We hope this video helps!

This is a superior video. Can I ask you a few questions? I've found that I lose fewer trout if I tie a hook to a bead setup using a snell knot. Do you find that fish tend to come off when using a 2488H in size 16? Whether you do or not, do you have a recommendation for a smaller hook that can be spelled? Again, many thanks for a great video.

Thank you Alex! So the 2488H is the perfect hook for this because of its straight shank. When you use a clinch knot the point of the hook is driven directly into the fish’s mouth. Therefore, a snell is not needed to have the hook face correctly. Many down eye hooks work better with a snell for this reason. Not currently aware of a smaller hook that would work well with a snell. Hope this helps

@@AnglersCovey Just watched this video again. It really is very good. At the end of the video, you go over three types of egg. I've always assumed that the pegged egg would win a contest among the three (over a long period of time and in different stream conditions, to make the experiment meaningful). What are your thoughts on the relative effectiveness of the three eggs or egg patterns?

Just watched your video again. And again, I'm impressed by your thoroughness and the clarity of your explanations. When you have the time, I'd love to read your thoughts about my question above (about the relative effectiveness the various kinds of eggs you discuss in the video, especially comparing beads to more traditional egg patterns).
